We took a tour to Volunteer Point with Jimmy. Wayne was our driver, who was friendly and talkative and provided fun interaction and much information about the islands in general. I wasn't sure about the 2 hour bumpy drive along the boggy terrain but after corresponding with some folks from tripadvisor, we decided to go ahead with it. Go!! You... More

I waited so long for the encounter with the thousands of king penguins of which I managed to take photos nonstopped for over 2 hours ... The place is within walking distance from the small warden's house where I stayed for a night and it was a pity that the change of weather from cloudy to a little rainy made... More

If you do any trips from Stanley, I would strongly advise going with Tony Smith - he's quite simply excellent. I doubt there are any guides that are more knowledgable about the Falklands and he is a genuine, all round nice chap. He took me on the trip to Volunteer Point the day after he had taken me on a... King penguins in the wild! It's generally difficult to see wild king penguins. But in the tour I took with volunteer point tours we had more than two thousands king penguins, together with Gentoos and Magellan. Tanya and Jimmy are great and honest people, with a good heart. Jimmy is knowlegeable and a very safe driver. This is important cos... More

On our Cruise stop in December 2014, we took Patrick Watts Volunteer Point tour. We had fantastic weather and a terrific tour. We were a caravan of off road vehicles, 4 to a vehicle. The ride to the beach was a thrilling, jarring adventure over rutted farm tracks. Our driver Tony was a native Falkland Island farmer who gave a... More

It was amazing -- the beach and ocean were stunning, we had beautiful blue skies, and there were thousands of penguins in their natural habitat. It was good to see that people were respectful of the penguins and weren't trying to lure penguins closer by offering them food. We saw King penguins (including young ones who were shedding their brown... More

We stayed with Derek and Trudi for 2 nights at the start of our Falkland Islands holiday - Derek picked us up from the airport. The transfer is very bumpy but Derek gives you information on the way about the landscape etc and Volunteer Point is fantastic - you can get really close to the King Penguins, Gentoo Penguins and... We stayed here for 3 days in the warden's house with Derek and Trudi. This meant we could spend as long as we liked with the King Penguins, Gentoos and Magellenics. Stunning scenery, stunning beaches, white sand and turquoise sea. By staying in the house us two were frequently the only people there. What a feeling. We also had a... More

We booked the cruise to South America mainly because it would stop at Port Stanley where I'd be able to see the king penguins. We were lucky the weather cooperated and we were able to tender ashore and made it to the Volunteer Point which was the only king penguin colony in the Falklands. We had arranged a private transport... More
