This was an excellent place to see lots of King Penguins, adults, chicks and nesting behaviour. Getting there was a challenge and adventure on its own. This is not a trip for someone who has back/neck problems because half of the journey from Stanley, Falkland Islands is on paved roads but the other half is off road and is extremely... More

We stopped in Port Stanley on a South American Cruise; this island remains one of our favorite places on the planet! Port Stanley is a small island; however, getting to Volunteer Point by vehicle is no small task. A team of four Landrover type vehicles met us at the port. We traveled about 15 minutes out of town and were... More

What a fantastic Experience ! ! ! You will have countless photo opportunities. There is not a Bad Picture. We partook in this delightful visit to Volunteer Point under the guidance of "ESTANCIA EXCURSIONS" who I recommend quite highly. They can be contacted ahead of time if you are arriving by cruise ship. We also were fortunate to meet then... More

If you are lucky enough to visit the Falklands, a visit to Volunteer Point is a must. There is a variety of penguins including the largest King Penguin colony on island. It really is a must see and a fantastic photo opportunity, you won't be disappointed. There are basic amenities, like loos etc and a portacabin to shelter from the... More

If you are lucky enough to make it to the Falkland islands, a trip to Volunteer Point is a must, walking amongst hundreds and hundreds of penguin of various breeds in a pristine beach location. We were fortunate to find Jimmy Curtis to take us there. A local with an engaging personality and an impressive knowledge of the Island's history.... More

Four of us loaded into a Land Rover in Stanley and took off for Volunteer Point. The first part of the trip was on paved roads and smooth as could be. The landscape was different than I had ever experienced. About half way on our journey we left the road and travelled across desolate plains, just bumping along. It was... More

We did the Holland America trip Dec 2013 - just BRILLIANT! It is by no means a drive-by. the ship pushes past iceburgs, and goes right down to where the small (expensive) ships go, but in **** comfort. Millions of penguins, dozens of whales Great seabirds. On board we had commentaries and excellent talks by ice scientists, a professional birdwatcher,... More

We were on a Princess cruise to the Falklands in March 2014. We booked the Patrick Watts tour 6 months early and we were so happy we did. What a great cross country adventure to go to Volunteer Point with the King Penguins, the Gentoo and Megellan penguins close up with their babies. What an improvement over the Puerto Madryn... More

This tour was great and exceeded my expectations. It is one of few opportunities to see the King, Gentoo and Magellan penguins in the one location at the one time. The trek to Volunteer Point is a tour in itself, quite adventurous. At Volunteer Point, there are some areas (the colonies) that are marked out which humans cannot venture into,... More

To walk side by side with penguins to the shore. Have Kings looking after their young in front of you, so close you feel like a proud father. watch sea lions on the shoreline looking for prey. strolling through the dunes being watched by wildlife as if you are family, life simply doesn't get any better. This trip I was... More
