After reading the reviews on Volunteer Point Tours, I contacted Jimmy Curtis an Independent Tour Guide and got the last seat in his 4/4.He lead a group of 10 4/4s. We were all on a cruise that stop and tender into the port of Stanley, Falkland Islands. The King Penguin Colony is a must if your their. This is a... More

We booked the cruise to South America mainly because it would stop at Port Stanley where I'd be able to see the king penguins. We were lucky the weather cooperated and we were able to tender ashore and made it to the Volunteer Point which was the only king penguin colony in the Falklands. We had arranged a private transport... More

It was a long 2 1/2 hour drive from Stanley but the commentary from our driver and the scenery made it worthwhile. It was very windy. There were several large groups of Gentoo and King Penguins. You were allowed to go within about 6 metres of them to photograph or just sit and watch. The beach over the dunes is... More

This was such a great place to view penguins. The trip out by land rover (only 4 passengers!) was wonderful and the island scenery was just so sweet, but the highlight was these silly guys who seem to be so similar to us. They hang out in groups of 3-5 standing around talking until it's time for a swim. Although... More

This was an excellent place to see lots of King Penguins, adults, chicks and nesting behaviour. Getting there was a challenge and adventure on its own. This is not a trip for someone who has back/neck problems because half of the journey from Stanley, Falkland Islands is on paved roads but the other half is off road and is extremely... More

We stopped in Port Stanley on a South American Cruise; this island remains one of our favorite places on the planet! Port Stanley is a small island; however, getting to Volunteer Point by vehicle is no small task. A team of four Landrover type vehicles met us at the port. We traveled about 15 minutes out of town and were... More

What a fantastic Experience ! ! ! You will have countless photo opportunities. There is not a Bad Picture. We partook in this delightful visit to Volunteer Point under the guidance of "ESTANCIA EXCURSIONS" who I recommend quite highly. They can be contacted ahead of time if you are arriving by cruise ship. We also were fortunate to meet then... More

If you are lucky enough to visit the Falklands, a visit to Volunteer Point is a must. There is a variety of penguins including the largest King Penguin colony on island. It really is a must see and a fantastic photo opportunity, you won't be disappointed. There are basic amenities, like loos etc and a portacabin to shelter from the... More

Four of us loaded into a Land Rover in Stanley and took off for Volunteer Point. The first part of the trip was on paved roads and smooth as could be. The landscape was different than I had ever experienced. About half way on our journey we left the road and travelled across desolate plains, just bumping along. It was... More
