Private tour to Volunteer Point to view and walk among the King, Magellenic, and Gentoo penguins with Jimmy Curtis was excellent. Jimmy meet us at the dock (cruise ship) and transported us in his 4-wheel drive vehicle to Volunteer Point. It is a 2 hour trip out with the last hour off road. You spend about 2 hours with penguins... More

The journey to reach Volunteer Point is exciting (4x4 transport and a guide - we used Adrian and Lisa Lowe who were A1 - are needed to get there but the time is your own once there) and it is a brilliant place to visit! Lots of penguins (King, Gentoo & Magellanic) to see close at hand as well as... More

If you want to see the King Penguins, this is the place. The ride out is about 2-21/2 hours, first hour on pavement and graded gravel road. and the second half is 4 wheeling at its best! You begin the cross country portion at the sheep farm, where a stop is made for coffee relief. The second half is all... More

We arranged a tour with Patrick Watts who unfortunately could not take us, but he passed us to Derek Goodwin who gave us a brilliant days tour, Derek was a child on pebble island during the conflict and has so much history and insight into the islands it was brilliant. After a good few hours going through mountains and bogs... More

Adventurous trip over mountains to millions of penguins by land rover. Watch out for the wind and take warm clothes.

If you love the opportunity to see wildlife up close this stop is a dream. Hundreds, if not thousands, of penguins up close; 3 different species. Incredible photo ops. If I remember right we had about one and a half hours on gravel/rocky roads and about an hour completely off in four wheel drive. Once there they gave us one... More

Although the only way to get here is by 4 wheel drive vehicle tours from Stanley, Falkland Island, it is worth the trip to see the thousands of penguins that reside there. The road is unpaved and is essentially off-roading, but you will see the 3 types of penguins that are there. The pictures you can take are amazing. The... More

I had read such good things about Jimmy from other reviewers on TripAdvisor that I contacted him to begin my planning for the Falkland trip. Through him, his wife Tanya (who arranged my flight) and her colleague, Cathy, at International Travel and Tours in Stanley, I just had the most wonderful week. I was a bit worried about the "convoy"... More

After arriving at Stanley, Falkland Islands, we ventured out to Volunteer Point via a long four wheel drive in a Toyota vehicle. Although the route to the penguin rockery was on unpaved roads and over rural countryside once you arrive to view the 1000s of Gentoo, Magellanic and King Penguins is well worth it. Make sure that the biggest person... More

We cruised to the Falklands January 2015 and were fortunate to be able to actually make it a port of call. Prior to our cruise we booked a Volunteer Point penguin-viewing excursion with Patrick Watts Co. We selected his company for a couple of reasons 1) The ability to pay at the time of the excursion 2) The good reviews... More
