What an amazing location! So remote, wild and special. I was lucky to arrive via helicopter to this remote spot. It was windy and raining for most of the 3 or so hours spent there admiring the Gentoos, Kings and their amazing pre historic looking chicks. Hundreds of brown fluffy 'uncle Festor' type creatures huddled together to shelter from the... More

Volunteer Point is home to the biggest colony of King penguin colony at the Falkland Islands. Besides that you can find lots of Gentoo and Magellanic penguins as well, turkey vultures, all sorts of gulls and other birds. The beach is beautiful and full of wildlife all day, especially in the early morning (yeah, that's before sunrise :-) ). I... More

this is privately owned land, with a beach front about a mile long, tusssock grass then some pasture / sheep to the rear. Gentoos are hiding in the burrrows in the sand, and the Falkland local ducks waddling about. There is a marked area towards a hillock where there is a small King penguin colony, and you can see plenty of... More

We booked a wonderful excursion with Patrick Watts to Volunteer Point. We were on board Celebrity Infinity and when we reached the dock, Patrick’s drivers were waiting for us with clip boards and signs as to which driver we were going with. Patrick was extremely organized. We were thrilled with our driver Allan!! Allan was a superb driver/guide. We learned... More

When you are on The Falklands visiting Voluteer Point with its king penguin colony (and other penguis like Gentoo and Magellan) is a must see. The drive there though is quite strenuous and nothing for people with back problems. It was rather an exhausting drive but getting so close to the beautiful and very proud king penguins made up for... More

Part of my Island tour, obviously knowing the history, it was good to join the dots so to speak. A bleak landscape but worth seeing

We visited Volunteer point in Jan 2015 on a Princess cruise. The excursion with the cruise ship is expensive and twice the price of the private ones which have got great reviews. We would have gone private but they did not answer my concerns fully as what will happen if their 4 X 4 stalls etc since we did not wanted to... Found information on Patrick on Tripadvisor and oh what a find. Patrick is most efficient at replying to email and very informative - a very pleasant man too and now somewhat of a star if you are watching An Island Parish! On arrival in Port Stanley via cruise ship, Patrick's drivers were on the dock with boards listing the names... More

Yes, it is off roading and yes, there are no roads here but OMG what a fun day and Jimmy makes it all work! Easy to book online with quick responses. We met at the appointed time, piled into... This is a very famous area of the World for it's wildlife; I was talked into going by a few colleagues at work and the journey there and back, were the 2 worst journeys of my life as there were no roads most of the way and you simply travelled cross-country over the peat, up and dowm, up and down..........
