We took this trip as a shore excursion from the Zaandam and were so glad we did. The trip there was an unforgettable adventure in itself. We saw thousands of penguins, gentoo, magellenic and king penguins. Beautiful cove, lovely beach, the wind and waves were wild and the air was thick with spray. Take some warm clothing. A bonus is... The trip here is long, 19 hours on a plane to RAF Mount Pleasant and then another trek in a 4x4 along the Darwin Rd to Bluff Cove. I have to say that it really is worth it. The islands are wet, windy and wild but they also have a rugged beauty that is hard to match. To see penguins... More

Be prepared to get dirty, wet, and possible car sick. You'll take a trip on a Land Rover over peat bog, rocks (lots of rocks), and end up at Bluff Cove Lagoon. You'll arrive at a penguin habitat and see a few different varieties. We were there in their "summer" and got to see a lot of chicks. It was... More

Landed via tender from the Zaandam and took a cruise-organized tour to Bluff Cove sanctuary. Starts with mini-van then transfers to 4-wheel drives ~ mostly older UK-Land Rovers across an otherwise impossible peat bog to Bluff Cove. Amazing sight/site of penguins standing en masse with some cute baby King penguins, looking like baby bears! Nice little cafe with home made... More

This was a real surprise as we didn't know what to expect. We certainly got more than we bargained for! For starters, our guide and driver was the owner of the property and knew everything and everyone. He treated us to real inside information and gossip as we bounced our way to Bluff Cove. Once there, the penguins were truly... More

Took the trip as part of a tour organised by Princess. Short minim coach trip to a point where you boarded 4 wheeled drive vehicles. The drivers were all locals who provided their own vehicles. They were interesting to converse with and you learned a lot about Falklands life. Once at Bluff Cove, there were King and Gentoo penguins to... More

The ship tour to remote Bluff Cove was a highlight of our S. American cruise. A shuttle took us from the pier to a meeting point with a 4x4 which carted us bouncing across rocky bogs to the Cove. Well! Once there we saw a host of spectacular penguins up close. Then, we had tea and pastries with the warm... More

We went on a tour to Bluff Cove offered by the Princess cruise ship. We were on a wait list and then got our tickets. Book as soon as you get the cruise booked. All the penguin tours sold out quick. We loved our tour. We had a fantastic lady talk about the island on a short bus trip that... More

Well, it was expensive. Go for it anyway. This may have been the best organized tour I have ever been on. It was certainly the most interesting. First -- the van driver --and only 16 in a van -- was very informative. Of course, driving on the "wrong" side of the road made the trip a little thrilling -- but... More

We started with a fun, but bumpy ride in a Land Rover 4x4 for a few miles to the Cove. All of the drivers and locals know each other and help make the experience enjoyable. The Gentoo and King Penguins were everywhere to observe at the Cove. The walking was rough and remember that the penguins leave LOTS of their... More
