Description: Sitting on prime waterfront at Marina Bay, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay...
Sitting on prime waterfront at Marina Bay, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay offers a complete lifestyle experience in dining, shopping and the performing arts. It was completed in 2002 and is well-recognised for its “prickly” exterior similar to the durian, a popular local fruit.

What an amazing facility. After our singapore flyer ride, we wandered over to the Theatres on the Bay and spent some time inside with free concert both within and outside. Too bad we didn't have more time in Singapore to take in a concert.

At night you get the most spectacular views of singapore skyline. I think this is better viewing spot than skypark at marina bay sands and also better viewing that the singapore flyer. From the esplanade theatre mall roof top you can take pictures of the marvelous marina bay sands hotel and also of the high rise buildings as the skyline.... More

We were lucky enough to be In Singapore over Chinese New year and happened to chance upon the theatre by the bay one evening. On their outside stage they had performances by the Singapore Armed Forces orchestra. They played traditional music for free for around 45 minutes. We seemed to have timed our visit perfectly. It was wonderful watching them... More

I recently went on a tour of the theatres - they run them three times a day but its not heavily advertised yet - it was excellent value, just SGD 10 for a 1 hour comprehensive tour. I blogged about it here http://alisonsadventuresintheatreland.blogspot.com.au/2015/02/changi-wwii-war-trail-11215.html Can thoroughly recommend, such lovely staff and a beautiful building

Many attractions in Singapore are well-known, but do you know you can walk around the top of the Esplanade. When visiting the Theatres on the Bay in the evening, you can see at 19.00 h a free performance in the foyer and afterwards it's nice to go up to the roof for a walk or a drink, while overlooking Marina... Amazing architecture, and the interior is nicely decorated. We were checking out the shows at the reception, and was told that we could visit the rooftop, no admission fee charged. Nice view on the rooftop, although it can be really hot.

If you are a music lover and you love books, the esplanade has a library specifically for performing arts. It caught my attention and the view is awesome...

As a lot have mentioned bellow, the construction is definitely a beautiful one. Even though not interested in a theater it's worth a visit for the building it self. However, I also recommend the dining area on 2F, even though not a lot of choices, but the restaurants seemed delicious. We went in to one of them and a great... More

This construction has distinctive construction with the shape which may make you imagine about a durian. If you just want to take picture with this building, yes it is free and on the way of most of City tour in Singapore

Attended a local show at the theatres last Saturday. Being a local, I am proud of the Esplanade but felt let down by leg space at the theatres. The place was grand, acoustics great but the seating left much to be desired. Even though we paid for category 2 seating which was the 2nd most expensive tickets, we had to... More

Staying in Marina Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Marina Bay
More of a mini city than a neighborhood in the traditional sense, the iconic Marina Bay aims to dazzle and entertain visitors of all kinds. This is the Singapore found in glossy brochures, featuring a world-class hotel, casino, shops, restaurants, bars, and other attractions all geared towards pure entertainment. The SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands provides a stunning view of the city, a must-see photo opportunity for visitors and locals alike. The ArtScience Museum always has a top-quality exhibition, and Gardens by the Bay is a fascinating manifestation of the government’s vision of Singapore as a “city in a garden”. Enticing Marina Bay is well worth a visit.
