Don't expect to see a line of food stalls, souvernir shops and tram rides to take you around the island. You should have read more about the island and other reviews before coming here. After exploring the island and swimming at the beach, there's nothing much to do here. You can try fishing too, just bring you own equipment. Bring... More

We visited St John's island on a day trip. The island is easily accessible from mainland Singapore by ferry, which is just a 20 min ride! It's clean, beautiful and absolutely serene! There are ample number of picnic benches and tables as well as small sheltered structures to safeguard people and their belongings from the rain. The water is clear... More

If you're not pressed for time while visiting Singapore, the ferry trip to St. John's island for half a day could be a fun option. The ride is only 15SGD (will go up to SGD18 from April) and takes you out to St. John's and Kusu Islands. You get a view of Singapore it's entirety, a view that can't be... More

I read about this island having a 'secret beach' in the loca papers and decide to pay a visit with my family. It was a short ferry ride from the mainland. However, the waiting for the ferry is prett long and the ferry is a loop between the Singapore-St John's Island-Kusu Island and there are a lot of waiting. The... More

Catch the ferry from the Marina Bay Terminal. Weekdays, it leaves at 10 and returns at 3, via Pulau Kusu, where the ferry stops for an hour to allow you to wander round that fascinating turtle temple island. St John Island itself, the old quarantine and detention camp, suffers from Singapore's fascination with fences to keep people out, but it... More

Good weekend getaway for now. Used to be a quarantined centre for the early immigrants coming to Singapore.

The Singapore Island Cruise (ferry) stops here for 15 - 25 minutes on its daily run. On a weekday there are only two ferries a day - so you can either have a quick look, or stay for four hours (and probably have the island's lovely shady picnic area to yourself). Ferries are more frequent on the weekend. http://www.islandcruise.com.sg/ferry-schedule.html The... More

St John’s Island can be reached by a twice daily boat service from Marina South Pier. There’s a morning and afternoon service. The first boat departs Singapore at 9.30am and arrives at St John’s around 10am. The boat stays at the dock for 15 minutes before departing for Kusu Island. You have two options – you can disembark and look... More
