A most enjoyable experience. Genuine Asian food cooking class taken by an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable teacher. A small group so ideas and questions dealt with readily. This takes place in an outside kitchen attached to a private home. Highly recommended.

I have been living in Singapore for 6 months now and really love the local food, so was looking for a place to learn how to make some Peranakan dishes and I found Cookery Magic. It is quite an institution, being recommended by Lonely Planet and a bunch of websites, and I was a bit wary it may be all... More

Went for the Hainanese chicken rice class with a friend. Best chicken rice I have ever had and we made it. :) Ruqxana has many little secrets to share in her class. I loved the fact that it was in her home kitchen which made it feel like we were visiting a friend. Will definitely go again for another class.

Not sure I can add to previous comments, but just to say that this was a great way to spend a relaxed evening learning to cook a different style of cuisine! Lovely that its in a proper home. Good organisation and preparation. Felt like I was on Blue Peter (here's one I made earlier) as the prata dough needed time... More

Thoroughly enjoyed Ruqxana's cooking class. She obviously knows a lot about flavours of Asian cooking and especially the different herbs and spices used. Her English is excellent and she was good fun. Learnt a lot and had fun.

My wife and I were given vouchers for a cooking class and we were not certain of what to expect. It turned out to be a fun experience. We were very lucky in that we ended up having a private class with Roxanne - who is a down to earth Singaporean. We picked this specific class because of our interest... More

I was recommended Cookery Magic by a friend of mine who used to live in Singapore. Ruqxana was very accommodating and quick to respond, despite only inquiring about classes 2 weeks in advance of our trip. It is a great learning environment, and you learn southeast Asian cooking styles and ingredients. The setting in her home adds to the friendly... More

Ruqxana is a great teacher and fun to learn from. We made laksa, chicken satay, and peanut sauce. She emphasized spices and taught us how to balance them appropriately. Loved using the mortar and pestle. She holds the classes in her own house, which was a nice down-to-earth relief from the bustling atmosphere of the city.

The opportunity to cook with an experienced, knowledgable local in her own home was a great change from the usual tourist routine. We prepared four dishes: Wing Bean Salad, Chicken Kapitan (a curry) with Roti Jala and for dessert, Onde Onde. Lots of hands-on, lots of kitchen tips...and a great meal.
