We spent rented a boat that took us to Sumilon and stopped along the way to see the whale sharks. The queues to see the whale shark are long...the best way to kill time is to snorkel at Sumilon and return later. Sumilon is about 15 minutes from the whale sharks by boat.

At the time we came, the waters near the shore line were full of plants and jelly fish. So we had to move away about a kilometer, about chest deep, to experience blue clear waters. The colors in nature that you see from several hues of blue from the sky to the sea .. are just mesmerizing!

A must visit when you are in Cebu. I discovered Sumilon island when I was creating our DIY trip to Cebu. At first, I just wanted to swim with the whale sharks, but I felt that it was such a waste to spend 3 hours travel time. Sumilon Island is just a ferry ride from Oslob. I recommend going there... The first time I visited Sumilon Island, I was taken away! It is a different way to experience the beach because you have the island for yourself as they control the number of people who go there for the day. It doesnt get over-crowded where you have to fight for a spot on the benches and could not even enjoy... More

The pictures of Sumilon island looks breathtaking! When you first arrive you come to a nice pictureesque sandbank. We where going to stay the day at Maribago bluewater resort, on the other side of the island. On the other side the beach was not nice at all. Big waves and sharps rock, so we just spent the day by the... More

This exclusive resort is an islet close to the bigger Cebu island. From Cebu City, one can take a bus going to Oslob at the South Bus Terminal even as early as 4 AM. Ask the driver to drop you off at the gate leading to the wharf of the resort. From there, you go down a steep road to... More
