We visited the Chocolate Hills in January 2009 so the weather was on/off drizzly. However, I would rather it be rainy than hot any day of the week. This was part of a full-day Bohol van tour that we arranged through our hotel. So we were happy to get out of the van after the long/winding road to the site,... more

The Chocolate Hills: a natural wonder; but that's not just what Bohol has to offer. We arrived in Tagbilaran City from Cebu. Tagbilaran is the only city in the Island-Province of Bohol and although it is not a place for a great shopping spree, it's mall got everything you will need for your trip, and of course souvenirs! Otherwise, buy... more

I've only seen the hills in pictures and in books as a young child in the Philippines and never had the chance to see them until this past August '08. My family and I had an excursion in the island of Bohol. From the airport, we commissioned one of the many van drivers for a "town tour". We paid P2500... more

This review comes 2 years late but hey, better late than never. This was our first big holiday overseas and was very much enjoyable. We caught the Ocean Jet ferry from Cebu to Tagbilaran. Upon arrival, we were ambushed by porters. They just take your suitcase off your hand and say, follow me. It was all such a blur, it... more

First take a ferry (Super Cat). They are very punctual but watch out for the porters!! Avoid their help or else you will have to pay an automatic tip! We stayed at El Portal Inn in Tagbilaran City (www.elportalinn.net). It was everything we expected, very clean with a friendly and helpful staff !!! Room rates were p900 per night for... more

CHOCOLATE HILLS are popular for its unique appearance - the hills lie together side by side w/ almost same size. They are nearly identical cone-shaped mounds, hundreds of h ills stretching out in all directions. The dry summer months turn the cogon grass that covers each hills from green to dark brown, hence it's called "Chocolate" hills. more

While the Hills were green and not brown when we viewed them, they were better than the tourist brochures or Internet made them appear. There is a minimal P25 entrance charge per person (authorised tour drivers are exempt) and a P15 parking fee. The 100 steps leading to the terrace for viewing may be daunting but there is the option... more

If you don't have a lot of time, the best and fastest way to enjoy the chocolate hills is to take a flight tour. It only takes 45 minutes and is worth every minute. Trust me, it's fun, safe and totally unforgettable! Make sure you choose a charter company that's accredited by the Department of Tourism. more
