I didn't plan to take off road jeep but it's the most fun on my yogyakarta trip. I rented a car to kaliadem village and the jeep started from there. It took around one hour and a half on mountain. The price maybe a little bit high for one person but good enough for unforgettable moment.

To our surprise it was quite a modern museum for Indonesian standards. Many Indonesian people, hardly any foreigners when we visited this museum. It's only 8000 rupia entrance fee if you want to see a movie about Merapi. Otherwise it's even cheaper. The movie has English subtitles and all other displays have decent English translation. It might not be a... More

If you don't know much about volcanoes, or if you are particularly interested In Merapi (it is a Decade Volcano after all), you might find this museum interesting. If you do already know a fair amount about volcanos, you won't much of interest in the museum. I rated it a 3 because I think the scale could go from 1... More

First random visit, no idea where to go when I reached Kaliurang area. The entrance looks like a small garden, quiet and beautiful :) but the stunning view that really caught my eyes was of ciyrse the merapi mountain, located right behind the buliding. I have never seen a real mountain in such a 'almost' close up view, it's huge... More
