This performance was something every tourist should see as it is such an important tale in the Hindu culture of Indonesia. However, the seats are rather uncomfortable as they are made of stone and there are no backs. There are also lots of mosquitoes so take lots of protection.

It was magical to see this performance on such a big stage with Prambanan as its backdrop. Familiar with the story of Ramayana, it was a treat to see it performed live on stage. I would recommend that visitors to Jogja should included... More

I was a bit hesitant when our guide recommended this but was persuaded to try as they claim to be the longest performing show for 30+ years. We were pleasantly surprised and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Seating could be quite uncomfortable though since the outdoor performance lasts about an hour and half with the hot humid weather.

See I'm a tourist and didn't know how to book for the performance. It's scheduled to have outdoor performance, then sudenly it's raining. We have to wait for an hour before the management announce whether the performance going to be continued or not. Finally they decided to continue on the indoor but then apparently the indoor has less seat rather... More

had buffet dinner and saw the ballet in june 2014. If you like Indonesian food then spend money for buffet else see the show only. the show is very good. Being from India we knew the entire story being told. The Ballet is well performed in a good ambiance. Must see.

Have attended this Ramayana ballet on the 14th Jun 14 after a romantic dinner just besides this open air theater. This evening dinner was set with the epic beautiful lighting of the Prambanan temple in the background..and the view is just breathtaking. The Ramayana ballet was extraordinary. The only hiccup is that the organiser of this ballet just got a... More
