Many people come to Yogya and do Prambunan and Borabadur then move on. While Prambunan is impressive, there are some great smaller temples nearby covered in the Hidden Temples tour at Via Via - much more interesting and rewarding than Prambunan alone and it gets you out to some beautiful countryside areas.

This is one of the best-run social enterprises I've interacted with. The staff are quick and helpful in answering queries, and always friendly. We did two tours - the jamu tour (which was excellent and great fun - you get to try out traditional medicines), and the sunset walk from Gunung Kidul to Parangtritis. What we loved most was that... This tour operator has a great down to earth vibe, where I felt I was getting an insight into the local community, whilst providing a good level of service. We did the Kali Code (River) Walk, Prambanan and the Hidden Temples, and Borobudur. I would recommend all of these tours, and this tour operator. The tour guides were open, friendly... More

ViaVia is a treasure-trove of travel tips and tours. They organize tours of all kinds, from food, to history, to trekking or biking. A visit to their shop is worth your time. They have a small coffee shop & restaurant, and large photo-filled books highlighting all of their tour options. A 1st class operation.

I booked 4 tours & 3 courses with ViaVia and I got to see Jogja the way the locals do. The tours were catered to my needs, the guides and drivers were full of information to share with this curious visitor. I am a happy camper. I will recommend their Batik and Silver Courses to anyone who is interested. It... More

All trips we did with them were well organised and the guides know a lot about the subject and the surroundings. The East Java overland tour was really interesting. The guide was good as well as the driver and the car. The tour took a lot of our energy as it is quite a distance we traveled and we had... More

I am a bit surprised that rating of ViaVia Jogja has slipped to the 9th. 4 months ago, it still ranked in the first place. Anyway, I did two tours with them: culinary trip and motorbike to Prambanan Temple. I recommend the culinary tour wholeheartedly. The guid will take you to 5-6 different most famous and special local culinary spots... More

We did the river walking tour with ViaVia and it was absolutely amazing. The hour was very long and our lovely guide provided us with loads of information on Indonesian culture, the education system, everyday live and more. She gave us the opportunity to try some special Indonesian drinks and food. It was also really nice that we directly got... More

We took the morning cooking class course at ViaVia and went to the local market to buy the ingrediants, which was a very nice experience! The cooking class is really nice and very professional we even made some side dishes in addition to what we had chosen! I highly recommend this cooking class!

We booked a 'tour' of the Pranbanan Temple complex and it was just under 400,000 rp and all it ended out being was a driver to take us up there and back. A taxi would have been about 100,000 rp return. Where's the value add here ?
