We did two courses - cooking and batik. The batik course is run by a very passionate businesswoman and her resident artist. Courses start at 9am and though the advertised finish time was 1pm, we were able to take a couple of hours longer with no problems. They run through every aspect of the batik making process, from tracing your... More

ViaVia is an excellent tour operator with good consulting, great service and good value for money! The "cooking course" and the "culinary tour" have been great fun! The restaurant serves excellent local food in nice modern relaxed ambience.

Just had lunch at this place. What a find. Not only do they serve Indonesian food but also a nice menu for the expat. Next door was a great little shop that sold many handmade items, most from recycled things. The bakery was outstanding and they even sold cheese at a great low price. Many expats were eating their and... More

This course was really a highlight in our three-week trip around Indonesia. We were very lucky to have Made, the wonderful guide and cook, all to ourselves. We started the day off by a trip to market (I think this is only included if you do the course in the morning: really recommended!!!). Made was extremely friendly and helpful, and... More

A group of 7 of us hired a driver for the day to take us to Borobudur, Parambanan and around jogya. We got picked up at 4 am, the mini bus was comfortable, the seats reclined and it had a number of doors so we didn't have to climb all over the seats. We had the van for 10 hours... More

My wife and I had a great time taking the cooking class here, and make it a point to try and do cooking classes wherever we visit from now on. The food was great, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

We originally took the Borobudur (via car) and the cooking class with them. Since we really had a great time with them, we also got the Prambanan tour via motorbike . Borobudur. We left at 5am in the morning. The driver came on time and he was friendly. The car was also roomy, with large windows and big comfortable seats.... More

I cook every day, and there are times when a bit of inspiration is sorely needed! So on my most recent trip to Jogja, I booked 2 sessions of Ibu Made's cookery class. The morning classes include a trip to the local market to select ingredients (the climate and lack of refrigeration makes mornings the best time to buy food... More

Today was our last day in Yogya after working there for two months. We decided to do the ViaVia cooking class because we had heard many good stories about it. And it was really great! Miss Made is so friendly and really enjoys teaching you how to make the typical Indonesian meals. She knows a lot about the cooking andtTogether... More
