A quiet place and nice place to visit. the best time to visit not during the rainy season. better wait the sunny days.

The fresh air, good food in a good restaurant. Cozy place to have good meal. Will be back and explore more the place and food.

A great place to know history of Java and batik. They also have shops and a restaurant, but unfortunately they close at 5 p.m. Therefore, if you go there in the afternoon, and want to shop and/or eat in the restaurant, make sure you have time and finish your visit to the museum before they close.

Went there just before the museum closed. You can't take a photo there (but hey, beautiful things didn't ask for attention). the museum is awesome, we get a knowledge about the rich Javanese culture and History. Just make sure to be there before 4.30 pm, last ticket will be sold at that time. After the museum tour, don't forget to... More

One of the best museums I have visited (internationally). The guide is very knowledgeable and guided you through each chamber of the museum. There is a spook feel to this museum but in a good way. I unfortunately went in with a group of elderly "ibu-ibu arisan" that often interrupts the guide and asks irrelevant questions. So this spoiled the... More

It is a very well-managed museum. Great hospitality, friendly and knowledgeable tour guide, great collections, and the story of the kraton itself already interesting enough to make this place a worth-to-visit.

Very nice museum and ambience. I was hesitated at first (from the outside it was not very convincing) but I loved it once we started the tour. Great hospitality. I'd wish to spend some more time in each room esp the Poetry room (for Princess Tinneke). We went in with some people who brought their children under 5 years old... More

This museum is simply one of the best in Indonesia. Privately owned and managed, it provides the best information about Yogya royal culture and history. Good layout as well. It also has decent colonial style restaurant, a bit overpriced though.

If you want to learn something about some of the Yogyakarta (and Solo to some extent) sultans, this is a more informative and more attractive stop than the Kraton right in Yogyakarta. I had an excellent English language tour guide. Largely photos and paintings, there are also some family artifacts, including poems, clothing, batik. Beautiful setting.

If you want to get a glimpse of Javanese heritage and a background on the royal family, this museum is better than the Kraton for that purpose. It's a privately funded museum and is well kept. Unlike the Kraton, which obviously needs some TLC, the pieces displayed at Ullen Sentalu are properly showcased behind clean glass and explained by the... More

Though they say it is about Javanese Culture, but I could not see culture related artefacts. It has painting, photos of the Jogja Sultan family and few statues of Hindu Gods. Nothing is impressive, it is a bit away from Jogja. If you want are interested to know more about the Jogja Sultan family you may visit this place. Compared... More
