This is a private museum, set in a garden like setting, with a guided tour. You cannot access without the guided tour. But there is no need to! The tour takes you through the museum as it is intended and provides you much more information about the culture and history of Central Java than you'd get if you saw on... More

Excellent historical spot on how two keraton merged through marriage (Yogya and Solo). Please pay this place a visit. It's worth the time and hassle. If your budget permits, get a souvenir from their boutique. Agreeably, the batik is pricey compared to other spots in Central Java but they offer a distinct style and (sometimes, colors) owned by Ullen Sentalu... More

A tour guide will lead us going around the museum and telling us the complete story of Mataram Kingdom. There are many picture and painting of Mataram Kings and family. There are also some traditional musical instruments, sculpture, batik. It took 45 minutes until 1 hour to go around. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to take picture at the museum,... More

A great place to know history of Java and batik. They also have shops and a restaurant, but unfortunately they close at 5 p.m. Therefore, if you go there in the afternoon, and want to shop and/or eat in the restaurant, make sure you have time and finish your visit to the museum before they close.

Went there just before the museum closed. You can't take a photo there (but hey, beautiful things didn't ask for attention). the museum is awesome, we get a knowledge about the rich Javanese culture and History. Just make sure to be there before 4.30 pm, last ticket will be sold at that time. After the museum tour, don't forget to... More

One of the best museums I have visited (internationally). The guide is very knowledgeable and guided you through each chamber of the museum. There is a spook feel to this museum but in a good way. I unfortunately went in with a group of elderly "ibu-ibu arisan" that often interrupts the guide and asks irrelevant questions. So this spoiled the... More
