Pros: Good perspective on central Javanese tradition Cons: Too far from the main city, the souvenirs were targeted only for international tourists

We were bought by our driver for this place which was not part of our itinerary. This is outside Yogjakarta city that along the way to Mount Merapi. It shows the history of Java Sultans and family. The last tour at 3pm. The entrance fee is Rp50,000 and taking about 2 hours. If you are not interested on their history,... More

The best place to understand the history of Jogjakarta. Accompanied by a tour leader, visitors can walk around the Museum and look at historical paintings about Hamengkubuwono, Pakubumi and Ratu Kidul. A great reminiscence of an old adage.

A privately owned museum, with amazing collection of paintings, statues, crafts and souvenirs depicting history of Yogya's Sultanate & Central Java. In Here you can find out the History of Keraton Family. This Museum is not a Government owned. You can have a personal guide who will explain to you the story of each collection.

It is too bad that you can not take pictures inside the museum. Great paintings and statues. Beautiful. It reminds me to embrace Keraton Yogyakarta culture! It also has a super nice restaurant!

This is a private museum, set in a garden like setting, with a guided tour. You cannot access without the guided tour. But there is no need to! The tour takes you through the museum as it is intended and provides you much more information about the culture and history of Central Java than you'd get if you saw on... More
