Thanks to the reviews in TripAdvisor, I learned about this place and arranged to visit during my stay in Jogjakarta. I suppose it was a little known place among international tourists, when we were there we were the only foreigners around! The museum was a treasure trove of pictures and display items all through the years of the sultanate. We... More

Well maintained museum. A must visit destination in Yogya, instead of keraton, taman sari, etc. Friendly guide.

I have lived in Java for more than 10 years, however once I visit this museum than I realized that my knowledge on Java is really nothing. This museum is located in Kaliurang area, so from Yogyakarta there is no really public transportation that went specificly to this place. The entrance is not that expensive and the content of the... An amazing experience to see the story of Kesultanan of Yogyakarta and Solo. The place is very clean. and You will have your private guide. They explain everything, and they will answer anything what you asked about the story. It's an interesting place to go.

Yes, the locals love this place... yes, the exhibits are well above the standards of normal museums, perhaps locally. The paintings, the batiks, the art... all very artistically done. Even the gardens... eventually led to the high-priced restaurant and boutique. Quite an elaborate marketing strategy, I must say. I for one am not interested to find out about the external... More

Everyone i know recommends this Museum. So i decided to visit this August. The Museum itself is quite far from the city. Having a car or motorcycle would be helpful to reach there. Ullen Sentalu talks about Jogjakarta, The Kingdom of Jogja and Solo, and several culture of Java such as Batik. The guides there were awesome. They knew almost... More

The best museum in Jogja! Although it costs around 35k I believe, which is so much higher than average museum. But since it was private-owned and well-mantained, it was so worth the money. The museum was well mantained, quiet, collection are great, staffs are so helpful, place was so great, it was clean. I love the letter room it feels... More

Visited Ullen Santalu this morning. Had originally wanted to visit the sultan palace and Malioboro but after reading some reviews on TA, decided on Ullen Sentalu instead. We are staying at the Hyatt and booked the hotel car for 3 hours for this. It'll be cheaper to get a taxi but we decided to take the hotel car for the... More

I had a mesmerizing experience in Ullen Sentalu. It was both romantic and historic. I liked that in every corner of the museum was taken care with great attention to details. Several of my questions towards the guide was not only answered through a nod / a no – but there must have been something symbolic or a remarkable story... More
