I was not really excited to do this volcano trip , I thought it going to be lame, because I never enjoy the ex-disaster spot. But I was wrong. The area has a first stop, where you choose which trip vendors you want to use, I forgot the name of mine, but the service is really good. The price is... More

You'll no doubt stumble upon what used to be a house, or an establishment while exploring and notice that it is only left with traces of brick and steel. And you'd... More

Its a hell of a climb 4 hours up and running 1 hour 20 minutes down But worth the view, and otherwise you can let a car bring you the first part, that should help a bit

I booked a hiking package at my hotel (the same was also available at the tourist office in Yogyakarta) for 300k Rupiah. We started very late/early at around 11 pm and started our journey towards... As one of the most active volcano in Indonesia, I always curious about Merapi. So,when I went to Yogya, this place already on my list. One of the most interesting activities is riding the jeep, the jeep driver will drive you around the village in Merapi area which already destroyed due to former eruptions. The jeep trip is thrilling and... More

The volcano become secondary when you ride the jeep. The jeep is tough and we just scared it could not make it up to the point! Well, after we finish the tour, we conclude that, We are as tough as the Jeep!

If you don't have time to trek up Merapi (which we didn't), try to visit a local village for a Jeep trip. We hadn't planned this, but our driver had put it into our itinerary for the day. We were very pleasantly surprised! We paid £15 (300,000rp) for a 4x4 Jeep ride around some of the areas destroyed by the... More

Went to Borobudur the same day so hiked on the side closer to there. We didn't have enough time to go all the way up, but got a local guide who was older but a very quick hiker! The sunset was a bit cloudy, but the views were great and we had a fantastic time
