We had the best morning riding down Merapi on full suspension mountain bikes. We didn't really need full on downhill bikes as most of the ride is through streets going down the mountain. The ride goes through small villages and rice paddies, with the occasion stop to drink coconut juice that's been collected from the top of the tree. The... More

For us city dwellers we rarely have a chance to explore nature, let alone an active volcano on its own. So this off-road jeep experience was exciting for all of us, given that it was fairly extensive and took us to sites of interest around the volcano. The downside was that it rained during our trip, which meant we couldn't... More

The visit to this active volcano turns out unexpectedly good. The bumpy jeep ride to the museum and the mount Merapi was a good experience introducing us to the rough terrains, the "ashy" air , and also a feel over the destruction the 05Nov 2010's eruption had caused to the people living around the vicinity. The jeep drivers are skillful,... More

It was my naive, solo volcano climbing in central Java, despite advise against doing it without a guide. I made it with no guide, tour agent, or special transport arrangement from the place where I stayed. Everything was on me, and my only savior was my GPS. Rented a cheap scooter about 60,000 Rp. and set on the journey that... More

We had an adventurous trip at Merapi Volcano. The driver brought us into the attraction area via an old jeep. According to him, the jeep is about 60 years old. We really enjoy the ride, it was an off road track. Along the way, we pass by the river that was covered with the lava, paddy field, visited the alien... More

I do the lava tour twice, first was on January when I and my friend do a survey for my company annual gathering and the last was on March with the employee of my company. We took the short course because we want to go to Borobudur Temple also. We stop at the museum, alien rock, and the bunker. Unfortunately... More

The jeep ride following lava track is quite interesting and a must try to get a good experience of the surroundings of a volcanic mountain. The ride some time could be very challenging but since the drivers are professional it is quite safe.

There are the short, medium and long keep tour you have to take to get close to the volcano. The day we were there only the short tour was available because the road got washed off (something like that, most locals even those work in tourism don't speak English). The ride was supposed to be for about 1.5 hr but... More

I booked a trip to climb the merapi volcano at the andrea hotel in yogjakarta. We were picked up at 10pm. The drive to the starting point took 2 hours, then we had to wait for another hour before we started the climb. We were offered coffee and tea. At 1 am we started the climb and after like 20...
