I hired a driver to take me to the famous Merapi Volcano. I had intended to take a jeep tour near the mountain. My driver picked me up at 7 am so we could get to Merapi before the fog set in. As we were heading to Merapi, we could see the volcano with the steam puffing from the top.... More

The view is so great. You can feel the power of mighty God!! *goosebump Been traveled to KaliAdem Pass last June. Traveled through Merapi's eruption by 4WD Jeep you must wear a mask to protect your nose and mouth from dust and ashes.. You will visit Museum (the local residents affected by hot gas trim later as a museum), and... More

I really love this place. The view saw great. When i traveled to this place, i visited Merapi Museum and visited Batu Alien ( Alien's Rock). The museum showed the story of Merapi Mountain. Off road tour is the only one that you can pick. Don't forget to wear sunglass to protect your eyes from the sharpy dust. However it... More

My friend really wanted to do a walking trek around Merapi, the jeep trip and the car and driver option didn't involve enough walking for my adventure seeking friend so we joined a walk organised by Christian Awul of Vogels Hostel in Kaliurang. I'm very glad we did this, it was hard work but a highlight. We arranged the trip... More

It is a mix of beauty and the sadness of the recent eruption. The red cross have donations at the village which was destroyed by the pyroclastic cloud. Jeep rides are the newest tourist attraction and a bit of fun whilst providing a new income source for the villagers in this area. Hot, dry and dusty so no nice clothes... More

I just coming back from Yogyakarta, and one thing that my children love in this trip is to ride with jeep around Merapi. We take a short trip with 1-1,5 hours and the price is around Rp.250,000-400,000.... I think It's reasonable. For short trip, you only stop in 4 places, but if you see something interest you can ask the... More

Standing as 'twin' volcanoes with Mt Merbabu. Located in central Java, it could be climb from the north, boyolali side or southern side, kaliurang side or Jogja side. I preferred climb from the north side, coz more easier and shortest way to 'puncak' / top. If you decide to climb from north, your first stop should be Boyolali bus station.... More

Started out excited to see the Great Merapi, which was visible all the way to the top whilst driving but after an excruciatingly bumpy ride in a jeep to reach about 5 km from the Mount, the top was cloudy and could not see the Mount in its full glory. It was an experience though to see the havoc wreaked... More

The place is as beautiful as any outdoors location, in season, neither crowded, nor hot. The view however is quite plane and not comparable to the photoes of errupted Merapi.
