The Monas is a big and proud monument in the middle of a park in the centre of Jakarta. as many 'post WW2 monuments' in Indonesie, it tells the proud story about Indonesia and about a country freeing itself from oppression. Don't expect a high tech museum, because it is a bit old-fashioned and pedantic, but it is a proud... More

I can`t enjoy my visit at Friday evening. I went to the Monas to shot some night-pichtures from it. The pictures itself are wonderfull. But one big dislike i, that the greenfields are patterned with garbage and plastic bags. The people sitting aorund the Monas, trying to sell food and pollute the place, because they don t use the containers... More

We enjoyed our visit to the monument as it was lovely to mix with all the locals enjoying this vast public space in an otherwise chaotic city. Buy a coke from a street vendor and watch the world go by.

For a non Indonesian my heart didn't beat faster when seeing it. The place around the monument gives you though a good opportunity to walk in the middle of Jakarta in a calm and nice atmosphere. The ever so horrible traffic in this city is hardly to be heard. The great show here is the Indonesian crowd on public holidays.... More

Went there with a group of 22 year old friends around 10.30AM. It was scorching hot with little shelter; many vendors around trying to get you to buy their stuff. Most of them are trying to earn an honest living and are really friendly/helpful - but there are the few who got us to sit down and tried to charge... More
