The national monument was the very first attraction my friend and I visited as it is only within walking distance from our hotel. This is a good place to see and visit in Jakarta. The base of the monument provides history information while the top bit offers a fantastic 360 degrees view of the city. We had to take a... More

This is just like another landmark in an ASEAN city. There is nothing spectacular about this place or maybe I need to read more on it.

The museum at the base of the monument serves as a good history lesson, taking us through the independence struggle. A lift, takes us to the top of the monument, which is about 132 metres above sea level. From there, the view of the city is amazing. We were able to see the Istiqlal mosque and really appreciate the size... More

Monas is the only monument which is somewhat can be visited once. The whole area is pretty big and you can do a number of activities there. Kite flying, small bikes racing, shopping on the road side, just strolling and enjoying the Jakarta climate (pun intended). Overall, go there to tick off from your list to do in Jakarta. thanks... The monument is a very high obelisk that you can go up. The lines to take the lift up there are usually 2 hours long. At the underground floor there's a nice museum representing the national history of Indonesia in several toy models from prehistory to the unity of the current state. The sketches are slightly biased.

Not much to see in Jakarta anyway. Monks is where you'll find a lot of people running around asking you to buy things

Monas is one's of Jakarta's landmark. its a monument with museum also. If you want to go better in the morning or in the afternoon where its less hot. Its very crowded, has many local tourists from other parts of indonesia
