We have done several tours with Ronny and Anneke -they provide a range of tours -all are excellent value and an eye-opener to the lives of the poorest people in Jakarta. The tour fee is split 50/50 with the community that you visit - always by a mix of public transport -great experience!!!

I would like to say it was great, but I can't. It is great to go and see some museum or drink cold beer on the beach, but this tour was very special experience which I can't call great... See how very poor, forgoten people live. They have nothing, yet they are one of the most happy people I've ever... More

I totally recommend this tour is a life time experience. Positive aspects: excellent tour guides, well organized, authentic atmosphere and totally safe. Improvement points: maybe lack of information in the hotels the rest all good... The people organizing the tour are volunteers using their own time to support the 75 families living there, they are doing an amazing work however... More

This group tour is run by dedicated people. They are seriously trying to make a difference for the poor people living under or near the train tracks as well as over the water in the harbour. The people visited appreciate our presence and all the children are an absolute delight. Walking slowly to make sure I am not tripping and... More

I highly recommend this tour. You'll get to see the real Jakarta. It is not about just visiting poor areas and feeling sorry about the kids and so on. There's a more complex message behind it and that's understanding how in 2015 people still need to manage to survive in any conditions; and also how a terrible administration blocks the... More

I still remain in two minds about this experience. It does open your eyes to how people manage to survive with very little but still feels voyeuristic. Take lots of pencils and and writing pads to distribute to the small children who accompany you on tour. I think the organisers are genuine and the money paid does go to supporting... More

After starting the tour, the first stop is next to a railway line and I mean 1 meter away on one side and the river on the other side. Dark dingy smelly corridors lead you finally to an opening where children play and people live in small huts. The next stop is near the river, where in an area of... More

We had an amazing experience on this tour. We feel that it is very important to give back to the community, and Ronny and Anneke are doing an amazing job! We only wish we could have done more. Highly recommended for all!

After living in Jakarta for 18 months we found out about this tour. It was eye opening, interesting and sad, but a real journey into the life of the desperately poor people of Jakarta. It's hard to imagine why they smile but they do. The kids are happy following you around and demonstrating their English skills which were quite good.... More

In this tour, you will visit several slum areas of Jakarta. You get close to the people living there, get to talk with them and see how they live. The children are super excited to meet you! Local transport (bajaj, anjkot, becak and boat) is used between the different locations. The people living in the slums greeted the guides as... More
