This was the best thing my partner and I did in SE Asia. On our way to see krakatua we did some snorkelling and just as krakatau appeared on the horizon the boat was surrounded by a school of dolphins leaping out of the water all around us, approx 30-40 in number. Krakatau itself was smoking when we visited and... More

Went to Krakatau from Tanjung Lesung, several boats propose tours including cruise to Krakatau, hiking and snorkeling. The journey from Tanjung Lesung is about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on boat & sea conditions. The hike is about 30 min, easy climb but you won't be able to reach the top as the volcano is still active. Prefer to combine... More

Someone told me to reconsider the trip but we went ahead instead and was very glad we took the chance. Spectacular sights, exciting climbs and a very adventurous exploration. This trip was tough, 3 hrs on land and 1.5 hours by boat but it is a good milestone in travels for us.

I did the Krakatu camping tour via krakatauecotourism.com in feb 2015. It's chinese new year in Singapore and we all get 4 days off and it's perfect place to go i thought. I have always wanted to go there for some unexplained reason. I knew it's history and how dangereous it is.If you like adventure and life threatening things then... More

It was on August 2012...we were a group of 20 persons at Carita Beach...just like that somebody told that we can see the Live Valcano if we travel by speed boat for an hour..Police at the beach took our names and telephone numbers. We were excited and it was a long journey in the rough sea..When we landed we realised that... I did this as a day trip from Jakarta with Krakatau Tours, the company contact is Roman, who responded quickly to my emails. The pickup arrived early and the whole day went as planned. I read some reviews about having to stop on route to get a permit before arriving on Krakatau, this company took care of the permit and... More

Big waves when departed from Carita. Boat runs 10 minutes when finally decided to go back because it will take a long time to get to Krakatau in unfriendly trip. Leaving the next day in the morning with much better weather and it was nice trip. Snorkeling in Rakata island then boat take along surround the anak Krakatau. Arrived in... More

We booked an all inclusive day trip to Krakatau. They picked us up in 2 buses, one of which had a faulty tire, we had to keep stopping and pumping it up which was slightly annoying but as 3 year Jakarta veterans we get used to this stuff, so not overly annoying. I do recommend drive yourself though, its much... More
