I visited Anak Krakatau after snorkeling and stay in Sebesi Island. From Sebesi Island tourists can use the boat for 2 hours drive to reach the Krakatau Nature Reserve. There are information boards so that tourists can be read at a glance the history of the formation of Anak Krakatau in English and Indonesian. You can take a hike for... More

We went there to chase sunrise. And lucky us we got it. You can reach this spot with a very light hiking. You better use tracking shoes, but tracking sandals will be enough. Bring your own drink and snacks. You can see several islands from the summit. You can combine this spot with several snorkling spot near from there.

A trip to Krakatoa is an adventure in itself and is an amazing experience. I arranged our trip well beforehand through Thom at Krakatau Adventure. The driver collected us from our hotel in Jakarta at the pre-arranged time of 11am. The vehicle was comfortable, modern and clean and the drive took about 3.5 hours. Thom welcomed us in Carita and... We had a fantastic trip to Krakatau and it made us realise what a tremendous explosion it must have been when it went off! Be prepared there are no real facilities when you get there and it is a lengthy boat trip. Check the seaworthiness of your vessel as it can be quite rough. It is however well worth the... More

Located in the Sunda Strait between Sumatra and West Java, Anak Krakatau sits in the same spot as its original predecessor(s). A site of major historic significance, it's absolutely worth a trip. The main options are a day trip or camping overnight. Some also elect to stay in the Carita Beach area at a hotel/guest house. On this trip, opted... More

I sent an email asking for quotes from a number of companies. Some companies claimed that we would need 2 boats for our party of 9 people, but we wanted to stay together in 1 boat. Thom from www.krakatauadventure.com provided the lowest quote and was very prompt in answering all of my concerns, such as assurance in using 1 boat,... More

I booked a day trip (950 000 Rp) from Hotel Beringin (Kalianda). I backpack through Asia, so if I pay now and then a lot of money for a tour, it has to be worth it... In my opinion this price is way too high for what you get: -2 lifejackets for 5 people -a small wooden kano with a... More
