Took a weekend trip to Krakatau and Ujung Kulon national park, leaving Jakarta on Friday after work and returning on Sunday night. Krakatau is a bucket list sight - the mother volcano (they call it "Ibu") is a majestic stump, all that remains of the 1883 eruption. The child of Krakatau ("Anak") rose from the sea in 1927-ish and grows... More

Even if your chances are slim to meet the Java Rhino face to face, you will see at least footprints of these rare creatures after a trip in a narrow canoe on the Cigenter River, which is the most fascinating boat trip I ever experienced. Rhinos are rare and close to extinction, but if you are lucky, you will find... More

Ujung Kulon is known for Java rhino. Do not expect seeing them. There's only few of them and they stay in no-access area. You can still see some other animals like monkeys, birds or flying lizzards. You need to pay for the entrance (more expensive at weekends) and have a guide. It's a nice walk there but not sure if... More

We visited the national park as part of a trip which included krakatau. We didnt see any Rhinos or snakes, but it was still a brilliant experience. There are wild deer, boar, monkeys and cows which all come out to the green area in front of the camp. We were there during rutting season so in the evenings we could... More

I went here with my friends (group 20 person) and stay at Peucang Island, 5 - 7 June 2015. Start from Jakarta - Sumur Harbour (it takes time 8 hours) and go to the island with motor boat 3 hours. Before we heading to Peucang Island we stop by at Handeuleum Island and Cigenter River to canoeing 15 minutes. You... More

Getting to Ujung Kulon may seem daunting at first, but it’s worth the trip. There are several options to get there and that’s what makes things a little bit complicated. Most people will assume that since it’s a peninsula, the first best option if not the easiest or the cheapest would be the land route. Common trekking route would start... More

If you are a nature lover and if you like the sea, Ujung Kulon National Park is a place for you.. The islands around are worth exploring. We saw flying foxes in the island we stayed and other islands. It seems like it is very common there. We stayed at Peucang Island, many deers, longtailed macques and wild boars were... More

I went there for tracking the mountain Honje with a tour leader. The local tour guide was very helpful and friendly. The track was medium to advanced, you should wear proper hiking shoes and bring stick because on the way back, it was literally going through the river. Too bad that our tour agent didn't give proper information related to... More
