Had a short visit and opted for the tour guide which turned out to be a rip off. Charged us 100.00 rmb each and just zipped through the park and over the five islands without shopping for us to take pictures. Better to take your time and walk at least you see part if not all.

One of those places in Nanjing where you can go to have a pleasant time any evening. Especially spring evenings to walk around under the warm sun after months of winter, to capture in lens the setting sun & the view of tall structures on other side. A stunning place to escape the hurry-berries of the city. keep walking around... More

I went in the lake from the western entrance. I believe thers is a southern entrance, and a ferry entrance on north side from the train station. With little time, I took the quick tram tour. The tour is Chinese only, and takes about 25 minutes. It's on electric trams, and takes you around all the "islands". You get to... More

Enjoyed a time strolling the walls and around the park - when our energy flagged we took the club car which was a treat. Lots of lovely lotus ponds.

I visited the lake twice in August, once in the drizzle and once on a sunny day. Both were lovely but in the sun, the place really is stunning. I walked along some of the walls and then onto the middle island from the main gate. I took so many photos my phone memory ran out and my camera battery... More

With the old city wall around it, and great architecture inside it, this lake was a great place to take photos and finding a shady tree to hangout for an afternoon.

I visited China Nanjing in early March during the spring. My former student suggested that we make a trip to the Xuanwu Lake in the early morning. It is quite a big and rather quiet lake that worthwhile paying a visit if you enjoy strolling around in the park surrounding the lake. Well, I certainly enjoyed the cooling air as... More

Very nice park close to the center of nanjing city. Accessible by metro lines. Essential is to make the boat tour inside the lakr for 1 hour, can pedal or take the electric one! The park surrounding the lake is also very nice for walking, relaxing, picnic or whatever pleases the tourist/visitor

Xuanwu lake is a large water body close to middle of Nanjing. Around the edge of the lake are gorgeous parkland areas, mostly suited to walking and resting rather than ball games... You can go on the water via boat-hire places, walk out into the middle of the lake (via chain of islands on one side with walk-ways between) or... More
