The lake is large and impressive with great scenery. Definitely paddle on the lake & drift by the different isles if you have the time. Was told by a friend that the lake is over 2000 years old, is man made & is only 2 meters deep. You will then need to come back and walk the different isles on... More

Visiting this park during Qingming festival, it was not surprising there were hordes of people doing the same. I can imagine that in another month when the weather is warmer (it was chilly and breezy when we went) it would be somewhere I would like to spend a longer time. Not far from the entrance there are myriad food and... More

Yes, this is what you do, if you do not carry too much luggage. The main fast train station is just north of the lake and you are directly at the lake and could take a nice stroll, if you have a central hotel. You walk along the old city wall which is impressive and the gardens are well kept... More

Went about sunset so didn't get to explore the island in the middle of the lake as I am not sure if there are any closing hours. But sunset view is beautiful and the flowers were beautiful.

I was going to meet some friends. I was very early so spent 4 hours relaxing by walking around this beautiful lake. It is in the middle of town but a peace haven.

Xuanwu Lake with it's imperial history is a nice place to relax in Nanjing, especially if you cannot get out to places like Purple Mountain. The lake is close to the Metro - get off at Xuanwumen station - and has plenty of places to walk around in comfort. There are also plenty of well-placed washrooms and other facilities, like... More

It's a nice park actually, peaceful and beautiful. No crowded people there, we can enjoy the clear lake and breeze. Em, strong wind occurred when I went there. And the Jiming temple is nearby.

We made a short one day trip to Nanjing as part of our stay in Shanghai. Xuanwu Lake Park is just a 10 minute walk from the Xuanwumen metro station which is easily accessible from the main attractions of Nanjing. It's about 3 stops from the main shopping district, Xinjiekou. The backdrop of the gardens, the lake against the ancient... More
