Try to visit the lake once in early morning and once at night. In the morning, look for quiet corners such as the area in the centre of the big island. There is traditional houses and lotus canal that feel like your little piece of paradise traveled back in time. At night, the park is dimly lit with lantern lamp... More

We were here by Sept 2014. A very big lake. There are a lot of lotus on the lake. Only leaves no flowers because the blossom season for lotus is over. This lake had a very long history of 1500 years. So we can call it antique lake. This is a relaxing place for local people. We sat on a... More

The lake and the surrounding park are literally an oasis of calm in the chaos of the modern city. However, watch out for mad drivers of the train and random other vehicles in what is supposed to be a park for walking and strolling....

This lake acts as the lungs of the city. People come here for all sorts of reasons. Locals walking the dog or practising early morning Tai Chi, or picnicing with family, Local Tourists ticking the box on sights they have to see in Nanjing, dancers practising in the lakeside pavillions, music makers, grandparents bringing their toddlers for "Playgroup" and very,... I fail to see why this lake has been rated as the second best sight in Nanjing. Nanjing is one China's ancient capitals and historic centres and there are a lot better ways to spend your time than come to this lake. If you walk along the city walls, you will see it below anyway, and I would easily rate... More

Very similar to any such lakes in many cities throughout China. Nothing out of the ordinary, spoilt by poor replica pagodas etc. Very popular, so if you are seeking peace and quiet, go very early

we have been for mid autumn festival and it was a little bit crowed! you need 2-3 hours for visiting almost all the park; an advise: don't take the car it's waste off money and don't miss one walk with an old boat, very interesting!

Had a short visit and opted for the tour guide which turned out to be a rip off. Charged us 100.00 rmb each and just zipped through the park and over the five islands without shopping for us to take pictures. Better to take your time and walk at least you see part if not all.
