We visited Xuanwu Lake on a hot and hazy day when unfortunately the visibility was not the best. On a clear day, it must be a beautiful sight. There were food and refreshment kiosks along the side which was nice given the heat. There were boat rides to be had, a large tourist boat on a half hour or one... More

Xuanwu lake is in the center of the city, easily get there by subway Line 1 (Xuanwumen Station). Very nice lake, coming with friends or family is greatly recommended.

Xuanwu Lake is easy to get to on Nanjing's Line 1 metro, and is a lovely big park. You can rent a paddle boat, eat, buy crafts at the south-east gate entrance, and have a leisurely afternoon picnic and watch Chinese locals enjoy life with their children. Throw a frisbee, walk across the bridge to the island, or skate the... More

It's nice and cool lake to visit in the evening. They even have restaurants, shops and food stands along the side of the lake. You can enjoy some relaxing time with friends and family. But be sure to bring some money for treats if you come during a hot day.

We were a little tired when we got there, so we rode on the buggy instead of walking through the whole place. Too bad that the bird park is no longer there but it's a beautiful place. There were many people but not overly crowded. We also rode on one of the boats. Nice experience.

Hard to think of anything I didn't like. The place can be reached by metro and there is no entrance fee. I would highly recommend you to spend a whole morning here and simply sit around the lake or take a slow walk around it, if you are here for a holiday. It's simply relaxing while you get away from... A pretty and large lake and surprisingly natural. Overlooked by part of Nanjing's city wall, walking around this lake is very relaxing.

Huge lake for enjoying time with family. The feeling of being surrounded on all sides with water once you reach some distance into it is really relaxing and liberating. Ideal spot for couples. Tip: If you are not in a health conscious mood, better to take a motor boat to enjoy the vastness of the lake. Also take 2 hours... More

This is a lovely, quiet, calm park close to the city center, and it's a fantastic place to seek relief from the heat and humidity of Nanjing summers. To use without moderation!

The lake is large and impressive with great scenery. Definitely paddle on the lake & drift by the different isles if you have the time. Was told by a friend that the lake is over 2000 years old, is man made & is only 2 meters deep. You will then need to come back and walk the different isles on... More
