Hong Kong was again treated to a number of high-calibre performances as part of the 43rd Hong Kong Arts Festival (March 2015) with many of the high profile performances being held at the Hong Kong Culture Centre. This year's participants included famed orchestras; the LA Philharmonic and Staatskapelle Dresden, who magnificently performed Strass' Ein Heldenleben, a piece written specifically for... More

We were so lucky to have managed to get some tickets of good seats to watch the ballet performance of the show just before Xmas. It was performed by Hong Kong Ballet. The concert hall is located adjacent to the harbour and nice surrounding which is great for photography. We took a taxis from one of the nearby stations to... More

This is a very nice, cool and relaxing location on the harbour. There is also a Starbucks if you need it.

The Hongkong Cultural Centre is located just next to the Ferry terminal and consists of several buildings. I have seen the concert hall only, but it is a large size hall with green seats, a big stage and a difficult acoustics: depending where you sit, the concert experience ca be very different . And on several of the 2016 seats... More

That's what it looks like from the outside, anyway. The HKCC opened in around since 1989, I seem to recall. For years, the only decent venue for concerts, recitals and so on was City Hall in Central, a quaint piece of early 1960s architecture imported from a provincial UK town, but I digress. The HKCC comprises a grand theatre and... More

This is a new museum located in Kowloon on the waterfront close to the Star Ferry terminal. As expected it covers the culture across a fairly wide spectrum. It is recommended for all new visitors to HK. It was well attended by the Chinese as well as visitors from overseas

The cultural center is easy to access. It is right in the area with the science museum and art museum. Safe place. Busy well into the evening. There are free performances inside. I saw an entertaining pipe organ recital, free in the afternoon. I also went to a paid performance in the evening. I'm not a classical music expert, so... More

When visiting Hong Kong be sure to visit the Cultural Centre close to the Star Ferry Terminal and next to the Kowloon and Canton Railway Clock Tower (a famous landmark). Today, Saturday 14th December 2013, we gathered with many others in the Cultural Centre's Foyer, to enjoy a free Saturday Arts Delight. We sat spellbound through Harp, Piano and Classical... More

A review of the Cultural Centre is bound to be coloured by any event attended. In our case a programme of Wagner orchestral music conducted by the legendary Lorin Maazel. Quite simply we could not place it anywhere else but in the top two or three experiences of our concert going over many years. Partly played in the Foyer and... More
