The original racetrack is this one! It is the farthest end on the Hong Kong Island away from the Central District. It is world famous, and busy all the time when it is not too hot.

If you are visiting Hong Kong and its not the Summer season when the races are closed, (even if you don't like racing or horses) I would really recommend Happy Valley night-time race every Wednesday night. Its such a vibrant and exciting venue, that even you dont have a flutter on the horses, the beer, wine and food will keep... More

We had a really exciting evening. Bets start at HK$10 (about £1) - and lots of helpful staff available to show you how to fill in the slips. Amazing atmosphere - floodlit arena with tower blocks surrounding - creates a real buzz.

The best night to go is Wednesday when it is very bustling. Tourists can buy a tourist ticket which is quite cheap and the atmosphere is great. The back drop to the race course is amazing at night time.

Great family night out. One doesn't need to spend a lot on bets but it makes it more fun if you do all place a few! The drinks are priced about Honk Kong rates, but the food isn't much to write about! Eat before or after.

Fantastic night spent at the races. We paid a little extra and booked a table on the balcony with a buffet dinner. It is a must on any travellers list.

Went here on a weekday and it was packed! lots of stuff to see and do. Really fun atmosphere. Was fun to bet on horses even though I didn't win.

It was interesting for my wife and I because we come from a suburb called Happy Valley. This race course is located in the middle of tall buildings and apartment blocks. It's hard to get a good look at it unless you go up the hills to the lookouts. We were unable to get into the course on the day... More

In over 30 years of traveling to Hong Kong, the Star Ferry is still a highlight. Old boats, such a variety of people, the hustle and bustle the views, a must do for anyone that goes to Hong Kong.

Staying in Wan Chai / Causeway Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Wan Chai / Causeway Bay
Wan Chai and Causeway Bay are the retail centers of Hong Kong Island. Filled with shops, malls and restaurants, both areas are bustling with people – tourists and locals alike. Causeway Bay has one of the highest rents on the planet, and is a bit more polished and modern than its Wan Chai counterpart. Beneath the surface there is more than meets the eye – find boutique stores in the above ground floors of buildings and wander into side streets to find interesting restaurants and shops tucked away from the main roads. Wan Chai especially has experienced a modern revival in recent times, with an influx of trendy restaurants and bars around the Star Street area. In addition, both areas contain many of Hong Kong’s iconic tourist attractions worthy of your visit.
