Great night at the racecourse. Only HK$10 entry fee and then a very enjoyable night of races. Very reasonably priced food and beer.

Happy Valley has to be one of the most enigmatic race courses in the world. Its located in the middle of town, easy and quick (depending on traffic) to get to by public transport or taxi, and extremely pretty especially with its night racing. If you are a visitor to HK you can buy a tourist members badge (take your... More

If you are in Hong Kong on a Wednesday night Happy Valley is the place to be even if you are not usually a race goer. It is great fun and casual so don't worry if you have not packed your best racing outfit. It is easy to get to and not expensive.

Happy Valley racecourse is a must for us each time we visit Hong Kong [if the racing is on naturally!]. Its setting is magical - the course is surrounded by skyscrapers and at night could rival Disney - the atmosphere is great, and the evening is one not to be missed. The area is small enough that you can get... More

The present Happy Valley Race Course was built after the disasterous fire which claimed over 600 lives in the year 1918. The racing track is narrow. The maximum no. of starter in each race is limited to 12 as compared to 14 in Shatin. Most of the night races are held here. People coming to this race course may not come... More

We were looking forward to the Happy Valley "Happy Wednesdays" but we just couldn't get into the spirit of things. The place was absolutely heaving, packed with large groups of ex-pats chugging down Carlsberg and chowing down on hot dogs. Despite the huge crowds, live entertainment and horse racing the atmosphere was hollow and we were itching to leave after... More

Had such a great night at Happy Valley. Got a cab from our hotel in Mongkok to the racecourse which cost about £10 and then got a tourist ticket from the membership enclosure for about £10. The tourist ticket gets you right next to the paddock so you can see the horses close up. There is plenty to eat and... More

Another great adventure in Hong Kong. Attending the Wednesday night races at Happy Valley is people watching at its best. The atmosphere is like a carnival with many people coming here to let off some stream after long hours at work. There is gambling on the various races (many taking gambling very serious with $millions of dollars on the line),... More

Visited for a Wednesday race, the experience is without compare. Follow the arrows for the public entrance and pay 10HKD. There are numerous public transit options including the MTR, Tram, and buses. Prices are typically inflated although not to an egregious degree, the atmosphere is electric, between expats out for a few drinks, serious local betters, tourists, and die-hard fans,... More
