This place was a very pleasant surprise. I had no idea a place like this existed in HK. And I'm not talking about the actual market, which, by any Asian market standards is nothing worth mentioning. I was in Stanley market in June 09. I found the choice to be very poor. It's mostly typical tourist souvenir fare that can be found anywhere else for probably a lower price. The clothes selection was terrible. One store I was in had shorts that I could get for half the price elsewhere and they were unwilling to bargain.... more

The market itself is a bit naff in terms of goods on offer. Much of it falls under the category of tourist tat. However, the bus ride to get there is wonderful and once you've done the market, there are a few nice restaurants at the end for a good English style lunch. We loved the Stanley Market area. The market itself was fun and had decent stuff. The bars and restaurants outside the market were nice with outdoor seating. The best part, though, was the bus ride. Well worth the experience! more
