This is a fascinating market, not only for the beautiful birds but for the interesting characters and culture. Check out the fish and flower market close by too.

Went there expecting a world class bird park. But it's just a place to buy local and exotic birds and the bugs and cages. Walking to get there is nice through the flower market shops. So worth the walk. At the bird market in a slow walk one can enjoy the short visit. There's an interesting thing to see when... More

The bird market is easy to get too and a really good chance to see something unique. It is a side to Hong Kong that most don't see. It is highly recommended and it is free.

It is a very interesting place, with birds of all types and species being sold, together with sacks of worms, seeds or grasshoppers to feed the birds. The birds sing very loud, and their singing is attracting wild birds too. If you have time it is quite interesting

Scattered on the road along sit dealers and offer their birds - mostly far too many for a small cage. The birds are fed with live grasshoppers, you can also buy bags of them.

The bird market was a must see for us since we are bird owners and bird lovers. It was a very unique and interesting experience that you will not see anywhere else. It is also a great starting or ending point for exploring the markets in Kowloon (see walking tour here: http://www.discoverhongkong.com/eng/see-do/tours-walks/guided-tours/living-culture/kowloon-markets-walk.jsp You could hear the beautiful bird songs from... I walked around for about 20 min. Very unique and not something you'll find in the States. Not only were the wide variety of birds interesting but also the live bird food they sell :)

i struggled with the rating for the bird market, because on one side i think it was good that i saw it but it is so heart breaking and hard to watch. come, see for yourself and make up your own mind what you think about it. i just wanted to buy all birds and set them free. to see... More

Lots of caged birds and you do see them in buildings and shops, but the area is clean and disinfected. There are 2 blue parrots on perches in the area but generally the birds do not seem too stressed. Try the Food Court in the next door mall on the top floor

It's a small pagoda styled zone neighboring Flower market. Just one 100 mtrs walkway between trees and a parallel line with stands. Lots of beautiful sounds from birds, captured in small cages everywhere above, but what I saw below shocked me a little. If you have a home bird in Europe you usually feed it with grains but in China... More
