Travelling with a 10yr old can be hard work as you have to keep them entertained. Well this market certainly did the trick. Being a farm boy seeing all the locusts, grasshoppers and worms in packets - fantastic and then all the different types of birds. The best was when he found an escaped worm - the pleasure of feeding... More

This was close to our apartment so it was one of the first things we did when we arrived in HK, the market is in Prince Edwards and very close to the Goldfish market and Flower Market. With maps its even easier but there are the pink tourist signs indicating the way. We found it fascinating to see all the... More

I was curious to see what the bird market was, as simply it is a place birds are sold and locals buy. Birds and fish are the normal pets here, and this market gives you and understanding of what they are buying. Was surprised to see a rosella and macaws. Will not take you long to walk through, so do... More

Locals bring their birds out for an airing...they hang their cages on hooks and tree branches while they sing along with other caged birds that are for sale. This market is 100 metres or so long and you can buy birds, beautiful hand crafted cages and also live food for your birds which is a real eye opener. Great picture... More

This is a fascinating market, not only for the beautiful birds but for the interesting characters and culture. Check out the fish and flower market close by too.

Went there expecting a world class bird park. But it's just a place to buy local and exotic birds and the bugs and cages. Walking to get there is nice through the flower market shops. So worth the walk. At the bird market in a slow walk one can enjoy the short visit. There's an interesting thing to see when... More

The bird market is easy to get too and a really good chance to see something unique. It is a side to Hong Kong that most don't see. It is highly recommended and it is free.

It is a very interesting place, with birds of all types and species being sold, together with sacks of worms, seeds or grasshoppers to feed the birds. The birds sing very loud, and their singing is attracting wild birds too. If you have time it is quite interesting

Scattered on the road along sit dealers and offer their birds - mostly far too many for a small cage. The birds are fed with live grasshoppers, you can also buy bags of them.
