Some may not like the 'Bird Garden' or 'Bird Market' in Kowloon's Yuen Po Street as there are lots of caged birds some of which appear to be in poor conditions and less than happy. It can also be a bit smelly but that goes for many places in Asia and to me is all a key part of a... More

There were koads of birds (both free and caged), proud owners displaying their birds and taking them for "walks", you can see some different sights.....live grasshoppers (popcorn for birds apparently! ), tropical birds, fancy cages, not so fancy cages, mosiacs and take as many photos as you like. I spent about 40 mins here and it was quite different to... More

Just recently saw this and was thinking ' Oh i can hear birds singing in a garden'...Oh no..not in HK.. the poor birds are stuffed into tiny cages..and i mean really tiny...i took pictures of lots of birds stuffed into one cage hidden under other birds...this is just exploitation of beautiful creatures by uninformed/uneducated people who think it's fine to... This has to be the saddest place i have ever been too. Looking at those beautiful birds locked in cages had me in tears. I looked straight into the eyes of the most beautiful Toucan who was locked in a cage of less than a meter sq. The Hong Kong authorities need to close this place down and let all... More

Very dim and hardly any actual birds there. It was mostly people selling cages and fake birds. If you're in the area it's worth walking through, otherwise don't bother.

The bird garden is just a small stretch at the end of flower market. However, you get to see different birds. But the feeling of the place is gloomy. No buyers for a long time I guess.

The place is quite small, but it is located in a nice neighborhood and has this authentic feel to it, which should not be overlooked. Lots of birds on sale and some people according to Chinese traditions buy cages with small birds and set them free to fly.

Garden itself is small; however it is really nice if you like the sound of bird voices. You can watch the birds (most of them are the same). We can see how the bird food is prepared. 20 minutes are enough for visiting this site.

I expected to see cheerful rows of birds chirping but was instead greeted by shops and shops of caged birds. It was a disappointment. The only reason u should be there is if u are going to the flower market, u can just drop by to take a look. Making a trip there is not worth all the walk.
