As in many other areas in China - this is a horrible animal abuse. Birds in tiny cages, tens of other birds crowded in not-much-bigger cages....everything there is about animal suffering. There is such a dissonance between the bird sound the conditions they live in. Please don't buy anything there... More

The Yuen Po Bird Garden leaves one with mixed feelings. Set in one corner of Kowloon, the entrance to the Bird Garden with the large 'Yuen Po Bird Garden' lettering and wide gate hardly prepares you for what lies within. The wide path itself continues right onwards to another gate at the other end, but all the birdie doo dads... More

This attraction had moved since my guidebook was published so we had to walk an extra hour to get here but it was worth it. Lots of birds and sounds. The kids got a kick out of all the live insects and grub they feed the birds. A site to see, hear and smell. More

Assuming visitors don't mind being in close quarters with caged birds of various species and many free-flying freeloading sparrows, this is a colourful, small area selling birds, cages, and bird feed and paraphernalia of all types. I feel bad seeing the larger birds, especially the mynahs, in such small cages. It is interesting to watch middle-aged (and more mature) men... More

Amazing atmosphere. Lots of birds for sale, plus everything you could even need when keeping birds. Love the fact the locals bring their birds along in small cages so that they can all socialize!! More

Intersting but sort of sad, all those caged birds- and very smelly. Nearby flower market and Fa Yuen Street are worth visiting at the same time. More

It doesn't compare favourably to bird markets we've seen on mainland China for size, variety and overall conditions. There were too many pitiful looking birds in a panic state in small cages for my liking. There were also way too many wild sparrows flitting about depositing their waste while stealing bird feed from the vendors. Outside the stalls, there were... More

My kids used to like coming here to look at the birds when they were smaller to look at all the birds for sale. it's a lot smaller than it sounds but fun for tourists who look on with amusement at the old men who take their birds for "a walk" in their cages. More
