The Star Ferry is simply the best way to cross Victoria Harbour. Despite running for well over 100 years, it is still very reliable and the oldest of the fleet has been replaced. Star Ferry was only $1.80 HKD (just less than 25 cents US). It's an 8 minute ride across the water between Hong Kong and Kowloon island. The view is beautiful at night. more

It is the perfect way to get around. What could be wrong with seeing the harbor two or three times every day? If you are staying in Kowloon there is no other way to travel. Unless of course the weather is bad and then take the subway! more

They also have a Star Ferry tour which doesn't actually go to central island, it just makes a big circle in the bay between the island and Kowloon. This is a great way to see the harbor for less than a US dollar each way and still get to your destination. Take the upper deck it is a better view with less exhaust smell of the ferry. more

Taking the Star Ferry across the harbour is a must-do while in Hong Kong. It offers great views of the city and is very cheap. Ride on the top level for the best views. Beware of all the sleazy suit salesmen and panhandlers in Tsim sha tsui. more
