The perfect way to end a hike on the Dragon's back trail is to get the bus to Shek O for the beach and a cheap meal. Beach is nice and fairly clean, the town is full of options for a good lunch

I've been coming to Hong Kong and China for business for 15 years. Just recently I've been planning trips with a full day/night in HK to explore. Last trip I figured out the mini busses and went to Sai Kung. This trip I went to Shek O. What a difference a 20+ minute bus ride makes. This side of the... More

This small town has some tourism, but was not very crowded even on a weekend when I was there. There are a couple of small restaurants and some shops selling items like sunglasses and swimsuits, but the beach is the highlight. Stunning views everywhere: there was even a seat built on top of a large rock that was out in... More

The MTR doesn't go there, but access is good by buses and taxis. From Happy Valley to the beach was about 20 minutes by cab and cost HK$100 for all of us (5). There are good changing room, toilet and shower facilities, deck chairs and brollies for hire and shark nets, lifeguards and swimmer platforms. The beach is a wide... More

A small town atmosphere with very convenient public transport. Good beach & hiking and also there are nice restaurants including Thai & Western. If you have no time visiting outlying islands in HK, try Shek O - no matter day and night, with your friend or family. You sure will enjoy such a place.

Great golfing at this private course. One can only golf there if a member invites you, otherwise corporates or golfing societies can book as a group.

A small, clean and sandy beach that is excellent for swimming, having a barbecue and even hosting a party. There are many eateries around, though it would be more enjoyable to have a barbecue. The downside is that the MTR does not get here, but many buses and taxis ply the area. It can also get rather crowded at times,... More

Its basically a nice beach with lot of shacks serving good food Thai/ Chinese. It was fairly relaxing. They had showers and changing rooms. Shek O wasnt difficult to get to if you are staying on Hong Kong Island. With the mtr covering most of the way and you cover the rest through the bus. The bus ride is nice... More

Don't expect Shek O is a large place It is small but you can have fun in Shek O. There are some Thai restaurants, a Chinese cart noodles restaurant, a seafood restaurant. These restaurants are not like those in Stanley. These resturant enviroment is causal. Shek o has a small beach, if you have time, can do barbecue there. There... More
