I used the tram several times during my stay in HK, travelling to and from my hotel in Wan Chai to Central. Entrance is at the rear through a tight turnstile and exit at the front. The trams were frequently crowded which I found meant it was best to gradually work towards the front to pay by Octopus Card or... More

The trams run East-West along the busy northern side of Hong Kong Island. They're relatively thin and look like they'll topple over at any moment, but are quite safe. They're cheap to ride (HK$2.30) and have great views from the upper deck. If you're travelling between Central and Causeway Bay, definitely take the tram at least once. During peak hour,... More

Antiquated tram system that wobbled and bobbled through the traffic- sort of Harry Potteresque. If you are staying in Soho this tram system delivers you to wherever you want to go on Hong Kong Island

Going by Hong Kong Tramways is a must. Sitting on the upper floor you can see the busy area of Hong Kong. You have to pay for the ride, when you leave the tramway. You should have the exact amount, cause there is no change possible. Best route is from Sheung Wan (Western Market) to Shau Kei Wan.

For less than $2 you can take a tram ride across Hong Kong Island. It's a nice way to take a break and see life in Hong Kong. When you get bored just jump off and go to the closest MTR to get you back. I took the tram when it was raining and at times it felt like I... More

Great way to travel along Hong Kong island and see the man buildings. Need to have the right change or an Octopus card. Lots of trams so no real wait. Very narrow steps up to the top and walk way so keep bags to a minimum!
