Yes, it's an old ferry in a modern city. I had fun but I'm not sure it's quite as amazing as some would have you believe. It's cheap, kind of funky, and a cool way to see the harbour though...I'm glad we tried it out a few times. I don't know, wouldn't say it was a highlight of our visit... More

You can easily and cheaply get a cab across to the island through one of the tunnels from Kowloon, but for ambience, views, and bustle you can't beat the star ferry. And when it is hotter than hades as it is in Hong Kong in September, the moving breeze is very welcome indeed.

Despite the convenience of MTR (which goes cross tunnel from HK Island to Kowloon), the Star Ferry has always been an integral part of Hong Kong history. Be it daytime or night-time, the Star Ferry is an inexpensive way to travel across HK Island and Kowloon, as well take in the views of the harbour (HK side) that Hong Kong... More

The ferry itself is no frills and nothing spectacular. However, for the low price, it's a convenient and extremely-affordable way to commute between Hong Kong and Kowloon. It's also the best way to take in the Hong Kong and Kowloon skyline.

A must do when in Hong Kong, great way to travel on water to see the city and a night amazing views of lights. Inexpensive and reliable. The upper deck is great but it doesn't matter too much. Leaves on time too.

We took advantage of the Star Ferry, which is an inexpensive quick trip to Tsim Sha Tsui from downtown Hong Kong. The ferry is not anything wondrous or great but, but it is an affordable way to get across the Victoria Harbor (body of water). You can buy your tickets at the pier before boarding the ferry and their schedule... More

We always take visitors on the star ferry and to the laser light show. The star ferry is iconic Hong Kong. A ride to and from Central is a must for those visiting HK. I prefer travelling on the upper deck but it doesn't really matter. It is a short trip across to the island and back ad time out... More

If you don't go on the Star ferry you've not done Hong Kong. Try and do it at night and get the light show in. It's spectacular.

Without a doubt one of the best things about Hong Kong has to be the Star Ferry! Every time I go to HK I head straight for the ferry and go back and forth a good few times. It's the best, the cheapest and the most authentic way of finding the pulse of this vibrant city. A tip is to... More
