My friend and I took the Star Ferry Symphony of Lights cruise from Central to TST and back. The boat was very rocky, and the light show was not impressive. (If you stay for the round trip it takes 1-hour). At the very least, they gave us a ticket to redeem for a free drink and a cookie; but the... More

This is SO Hong Kong (and cheap) and you get great views. As an added activity, try to get through during rush hour and feel like a real Hong Kongite :) There are upper and lower deck access points (you cannot change once you are on board) and lower is a tad cheaper (for those who want to save a... its a must just to experience the the iconic ferry travesting the victoria harbour. Its just a short ride but it was definitely more fun riding the mtr. If you are on the Kowloon side and going to visit the victoria Peak. I suggest you ride the star ferry and cross the harbour . Take the Bus 15c at the... More

It's only a ferry and the journey is about 8 minutes but I have to say I was genuinely excited about going on the Star Ferry across Victoria harbour. You get another view of a very exciting city scape, particularly at night and its very easy to use. At only a couple of quid per person it's probably the best... More

At 2 to 2.5HK this is a bargain. A great way to experience the pulse of Hong Kong and also get from Hong Kong itself to Kowloon. Note you have buy a token from the machines before the automated gates. Boarding is also by deck. They also offer harbour cruises including one to see the light show. The staff wear... More

Let's be blunt. If you don't take the Star Ferry at least once, you have missed out on one of Hong Kong's cultural treasures. This city tears itself down and buries its past so often. Not with this icon. The Star Ferry is part of the history of the city. It used to be the only cheap and practical way to... More

The star ferry is one of the oldest icons of Hong Kong, having been around since the turn of last century. It is cheap to ride and provides great views of both Hong Kong and Kowloon. I advise everyone to at least ride it once whilst in HK for the experience.

Travelling between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon by the star ferry makes a pleasant change to the MTR. It's a more relaxed way with a better view and cheaper too. It's a short trip about 10 minutes and they run frequently so younever have to wait very long. I love the old world charm of these ferries.
