It was a glorious Saturday and we explored Aberdeen and the harbour. Take the boat through the fishing village and see the old and new luxury boats. It is a glimpse into the past.

an interesting insight into how some of the population is trying to hang onto their roots although they are squatting and will eventually be moved into high rise apartments they can't afford.

They say this is the real origin of Hong Kong as a fishing village, to what it is today; the embodiment of opposites. But Aberdeen fishing village is well known today for more than its origin, it is here where some of James Bond movies were shot, and some of the legendary Bruce Lee movies were shot here as well.... Though it was evident she knows only a little English, the tour lady who's in charge of the Sampan ride was very accomodating, war and friendly. Someone like her was hard to find in Hong Kong.

Disappointing. Sanpan ride didn't really show a traditional fishing village and the floating restaurent was a let down.

Went as part of a tour and were not really informed that the San pan boat we were escorted onto came at a cost and at the end of the trip they would not let us off until we had paid. The area has high rise buildings/apartments and the harbour is filled with fishing boats. The is a floating restaurant... More

This stop in our Greyline tour is a rip off. The boat trip they charge was way way overpriced considering the price was based on a per person basis. All we had to see were fishing boats, some luxurious yachts, and the iconic Jumbo restaurant. That's it. I don't recommend this for the other travelers. If you're on a tour... More

We went to Aberdeen from Lamma Island by ferry. As the ferry is entering the fishing village, you start to see many fishing boats. I read about Hong konger making these fishing boats their home, kind of an interesting idea and sight. Once landed in the Aberdeen Jetty, we walked along the promenade before leaving Aberdeen. We took Bus 970x... More

Enjoyed a ride around an old fishing area, while riding in a sampan for about ½ hour, seeing the various fishing boats in the harbor. Quite a nice ride. Saw all kinds of fishing boats and a huge Chinese restaurant from the water.
