A trip with our guide to Jinshanling Great Wall was exccellent. Quite a drive (2 1/2 hours) to this section but the first views of the Wall are unforgettable. Cable car up to the wall level and then an exhausting climb up to the wall itself. Do not attempt if infirm in any way. Nice ladies help the strugglers (me!)... More

Jinshanling Great Wall is a bit far away from Beijing which belongs to Hebei Province. But, many people recognized that this is the most beautiful section of Great Wall with its winding shape along ridge of mountains. In spring you can also enjoy apricot blossoms all over mountains. If timing is available, you can hike from Jinshanling to Simatai, or... More

We did this hike in lovely Autumn colours, was absolutely amazing! No tourists other than us, very remote, stunning landscape, steep parts during the hike but absolutely worth it, the views from each tower was breathtaking. Would highly recommend this part of the Wall!

We are so happy that we made it to this place of the Great Wall. Was everything and more that we had hoped and wished for. We booked the trip through our hostel since I read online that it could be a bit of a stress getting here by yourself, and we didn't want to mess around to much and... More

We went there with our hostel's tour (i think it was around 270RMN/person, lunch included). We left Beijing around 6:30 AM, as the bus collects all the people from the hostels around. After a 3h bus ride, you arrive at the cable car ; we had 3hours by ourselves. We took the cablecar (40RMB/person) so to save our energy to... More

To miss the Great Wall of China if you are in the country would be a travesty. I have visited now 4 times and this latest time I went because it was a different section of the Great Wall. It was booked through the Beijing Tourist Authority in Wanfujing Street. I have booked with them before and found them very... More

I have tracked most of the walls over the years in and out to China, but my favorite remains Jinshanglin to Simatai. During the week less traffic, choose a blue sky day which you may get more in spring and autumn. Picnic and refreshment recommended as it may take a whole day to explore the various towers and views. There... More

If you go to Beijing you must visit it!! At first, I walk on the Jinshanling and Simatai sections, which are the most original parts, and then I went to the beginning of the Gubeikou, where an extraordinary view was in front of my eyes: an "infinite" construction that extends along the mountains. Although this part was recently rebuilt (so... More
