This access to the Great Wall is GREAT ! Great views ! NO BIG CROWDS !! Part of the Wall restored 30 years ago and other part is 500 years old , untouched !!! AMAZING. Only downside... it is about 150 kms from Beijing. But the express way is really good and the traffic flows very well.

Jinshanling is three hours away by car from Beijing. We took a private tour with Paul at Great Wall Expert. This section of the Great Wall gives an excellent perspective of its history in that there are restored and unrestored sections giving a good feel and comparison of both. The view of that never-ending string of the wall ahead and... More

I booked my Great Wall hike through Downtown Backpacker's Hostel because I they took a pretty independent approach for this excursion. I you want a tour guide that leads a group around with a flag and a megaphone, this is not for you. You don't really need a guide to see things around Beijing, just read up on the sites... More

Jingshanling Great Wall is the best preserved and essential section of Great Wall in China with two features of strategic geographical location and special dense towers. Jingshanling Great Wall is relatively less crowded, so walking on the Great Wall to enjoy the steep mountains, unique towers and experience the stories at the ancient time is beautiful thing. It also attracts... More

I have visited Mutianyu and Badalin and for me this is the best part of the Great Wall I climbed. It is further away from Beijing than other parts of the wall yet totally worth it. First because it's not crowded and you can feel literally alone on this wall. Second it's not fully refurbished so it looks more ancient... More

Went by road to Jinshanling from Beijing. It is a bit further by road but well worth the extra travelling. It was almost deserted and we could walk the wall without all those tourists. We went with a guide which was a great advantage as you learn a lot more. We took lunch with and had it sitting on the... More

On a 6 day trek of the Great Wall, this was my favourite part. We hiked 14 km from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and simply loved the wall. Undulating with about 500m elevation gain according to my GPS. Lots of restored and un-restored sections along the way and so many opportunities for sweeping vistas with the wall threading back and forth... More

The Great Wall at Jinshanling is my favorite one in Beijing. Campared with other sections,it is more natural. a 2-day tour is highly recommended, because you can see the sunset in the evening and the sunrise in the morning. It is also the perfect place for photograph and camping, it has campsite there, but you need to bring your own tent and... The tour was great, it leaves early morning from the Hutong area and then take you the the wall after 1 1/2 hour drive. At the wall you have 3 hours to hike from tower 1 to tower 22 which is reasonable and totally beautiful.
