Quite a depressing place if you are used to seeing animals in large compounds and treated well. Visitors feeding all kinds of things, despite the signs, and the constant banging on cages etc. isn't nice to see, so goodness knows what the animals feel. Some cages are tiny and seemingly haven't been cleaned for ages. More

The zoo is poorly kept and not so clean the condition for the panda is quite sad to see especially as this is the capital city and the Panda is a national figure. Suggest they seek help from Singapore or San Diego Zoo More

The place is crowded as any other tourist spot in China. The worst thing is that the animals are poorly treated, locals are whistling, shouting, throwing rubbish on animals and banging on the cages to get the animals' attention. Do not go during weekends! More
