Thanks to previous Great Wall reviews we chose Mutianyu for our day trip to the Great Wall. We had a brilliant day that far exceeded our expectations. I would certainly echo the advice of others that by arriving at this site between 8.30 to 9am you seem to get the place to yourself for a precious half an hour or... more

What a breath of fresh air after the overcrowdedness of Beijing! The Mutianyu section of the wall may be further than the Badaling section from the main city, but it's worth the extra effort. This area has fewer tourists, impressive scenery, and some unbelievably steep sections. You can choose to take a ski lift (enclosed or open) up to the... more

Rarely have I encountered the kind of care and meticulous planning that my husband and I received with the tour guides of Wild China. Our experience with them was beyond great; it was exceptional. Every meal, every destination, and every encounter was seasoned with the expertise of the Wild China staff. Our trip would have been significantly less enjoyable without... more

I was staying in Beijing for a week in October 2009 and the Great Wall was near the top of my things to do. Based on reviews here at tripadvisor, I booked a driver and chose the Mutianyu section of the Wall. We set off at 7am and the drive from central Beijing took about 90 minutes. Most of the... more

My bf and I were determined to check out one of the lesser known parts of the Great Wall but also not spend an excessive amount for a tour bus, which would limit our time at the Wall and also take us somewhere to try to sell merchandise, or a taxi which relatively wasn't that much but more than we... more

The Great Wall at Mutianyu is less crowded than the wall at Badaling - a little further and harder to get to but well worth it. We took the ski lift up and the alpine slide down, which was great fun. The stairs are very steep so be ready for good climb. If you go to the right you can... more

He confirmed with us the day before and showed up on time and was waiting for us. his English was great, his car was clean, his driving was good, and his attitude was excellent. We were the first there and did... more

Used Beijing Xinhua International tours Co. at (010) 67160201 ext 1022 to book private tour to Mutianyu. Such a good tour operator, I used them to book a tour in Xi'an as well. Mutianyu was very foggy the day I went, but was wonderful just the same. I'm told the crowds are not as large here, and I would have... more

We liked it so much, we visited twice. Our first time it was foggy so we went back to enjoy a sunny day view. We took the cable car up then turned left to hike to tower 20. Tower 20 has the best views, but lots of steps and a very steep section. The first time we took the stairs... more

There were actually 2 different windows. the window on the left sells chair lift and toboggan tickets the one on the right sells just the cable car tickets. the chair lift will tkae you to tower 6 and that's where the toboggan ride is as well. cable car will take u... more
