The wall itself was truly awesome in every sense of the word. Getting to the wall was not, however. We chose to not go on a tour since we wanted to make up our own schedule and it takes a while to get there from the central part of town; about 2 hours with subway, bus, then taxi. The taxi... More

This had been on my bucket list for a very long time. We book a private car with driver and guide as I have some mobility issues. Well worth the extra money. Guide very knowledgeable and helpful driver was excellent in all the conditions. The climb to the actual wall was very hard and not the beginner level advertised. Make... More

The Mutianyu section of the Wall, is the furthest from Beijing but has the advantage that less people are visiting it. The cable car brings the people from the valley up to the wall and down again. Once you are on the wall, you can see how the wall is moving along the landscape. Be aware that walking on the... More

Not as crowded as other locations but a further drive from Beijing. Beautiful views of the mountains if the skies are clear. You can hike up or take a ski lift, and if you want to you can taboggan down.

A good located part of the great wall. a cable car takes you up to a good start for your hike. Not so crowded, but still with a lot of sellers taking a lot for water and beer.

If you're going to visit the Great Wall, then come here. Where else can you enjoy one of the Wonders of the World, travel to the wall via a gondola and then take a toboggan ride down to the bottom. It is very well worth the extra travel time.

Amazing views and less crowded than the main tourist area - definitely take the cable car up and the luge down.

As the title suggest, no words to describe it. It's simple one of the seven wonders in the world and you can understand why. Be careful, some parts of the wall require a certain level of fitness. You don't need to be a professional athlete to do it, however for exams my mother was incapable of going far than tower... More

This is a quieter section as they have opened new gate somewhere else. We came here from Beijing with a private driver and tour guide arranged by China Odyssey Tours. Highly recommend them. There is a cable car to the top and it was worth riding it in the blistering heat and humidity, so that I had enough energy to... More

The Great Wall is what most people have described: awesome! The climb was not so challenging as I expected, but the view was spectacular, especially on a clear day!
