Both my wife and I had seen pictures of the great wall and had seen in movies, but nothing compares to actually standing on the wall. This location is great, because it is farther out from Beijing, so tends to be less crowded. We visited the last week of October and the weather was cooler, but not uncomfortable. The wall... More

I've been to the Badaling Great Walls a few years back and comparing to Mutianyu great walls, I'll definitely be recommending this one. First off - there is significantly lesser people so you can at least take a good shot (and you can see from my photos as well on a saturday visit). Secondly, I find this section of the... More

Amazing, I definitely recommend going to this part, it wasn't over run with tourists and there are great amenities at the bottom of it. We taboggened down from the wall it was so much fun. Its not too far from Beijing town centre either.

Going up to the wall in the chair lift was a wonderful way to get a bird's eye view of the surrounding area. Our kids came back down on the toboggan, which they also enjoyed. There are a number of lookout points, all of which give great views. Walking this section of the wall has easy bits and steep parts... More

We went in early Nov. It wasn't crowded at all. (Most tourist tend to also go to Badaling section of the Great Wall.) You can take a chair-lift or cable car up and go back down using the toboggan if you like (but only if you're under 60 yrs old.)

i have visited the Wall at Badaling and would recommend Mutianyu. Had a clear day and it was beautiful. Were there at closing and were treated to an awesome sunset as well. Took the gondola both directions so we could maximize our time actually on the wall.

This is amazing, but be ready to climb! The crowds are a little smaller than at badaling. The fun toboggan run at the end made it surprisingly fun.

Last week I went to the Great Wall Mutianyu section with John Yellow Car (http://www.beijing-driver.com) and had a excellent time. John was great, lived up to all the reviews and expectations I had. I would highly recommend using John, his command of the English language is great and he even learned a few new words during our time together. The... More

this was much better than expected. Its a little false as its all reconstructed (the 'wild wall' is there to see too), but with a good guide its an unforgettable trip. great walk, really nice views and when I went it was actually really quiet. taking the chair lift up and tobogan down! well worth the cost (which isnt much)
