The wall was incredible. The history is amazing and this part of the wall was not busy on the day we visited. Since this part of the wall requires a tour driver and doesn't have public transportation, it seems to stay less occupied. The views were amazing and we arrived on a day of mist and light rain which made... More

We arrived after lunch there was hardly anyone about, we took the Ski lift up and the toboggan down - (great fun) the views are spectacular. The wall which has been restored is a challenging walk but most people will be able to manage a short walk (at times the steps are steep and the bannister is essential!

We traveled there with an organized bus tour. That as a bit uncomfortable, because it took an hour to pick up tourists from all the various hotels, then we had a long ride. But it was well worth it. Take the cable car up, because you will need all your strength on the wall itself. It is a fantastic sight!

Be prepared for steep staircases and take suitable walking shoes. Definitely one for the "bucket list" -do it with a guided tour as you learn a lot more about its history which makes it even more impressive.....

A piece of history that has to be seen. A marvel of construction which is also unbelievably sad due to the many deaths and misery it caused. Like all great constructions a testimony to the background thinking that goes into a finished product. Not suitable for anyone who is not reasonably fit as there is much walking and climbing to... This Great Wall Site is easy to get to without hiking, beautiful in the early morning, when there are no crowds - and fun to zoom down the mountain on the tobaggan-slide. It's a long day-trip from Beijing - though, because the return traffic is pretty bad.

What can one say about this giant of ancient mankind's structural engineering prowess? Very few of the world's great landmarks can genuinely be describes as awesome, but this is certainly one of them.I had seen many pictures of the Great Wall, but nothing really prepares you for the real thing, up close and personal. One thing to be aware of... More

Incredible section of the great wall, definitely better then the more crowded areas. I was lucky enough to go when it was quite slow, and had an incredible time. I highly recommend the sled down, it was great fun!
