This location is great! Has lots of wall to see and LOTS of stairs to climb! You start at the bottom and take a bus. Then, you take a lift to the first part of the Wall up in the mountains. Then, there is quite a bit of wall you can tour. Some parts are very steep. I'm short and... More

About and hour outside Beijing, this stop had fewer tourists, very nice facilities including restaurants And shops and had a fantastic slide to get down the mountain that both kids and adults had fun doing!

And I mean that literally. It really is very steep and a long way up. If you are not in good shape take the cable car up and down and save your legs for walking along the wall proper, I think it's a much more enjoyable experience than arriving at the top half (or even really) dead. The views are... More

Been here last year and had an amazing (though tiring) experience. This section of wall is nicely preserved. You can walk for hours on this wall and it never ending. Better carry some water to keep you hydrated. You take cable car ride to go up the wall and to climb down, u can either choose same cable car or... More

Visited with a private guide. we arrived at 9 am - beat the crowds which were light anyway in late March. We have seen pictures from visits during Chinese holidays - way too crowded. Great time on the Great Wall. Tobaggoning down - that's the way to go. Go fast!

Great Wall at Mutianyu is a completely restored stretch of the Wall. The actual Wall can be accessed from the parking lot / shuttle bus station by several options: Hiking up and two cable cars. Cable cars charge 80CNY / 100 CNY respectively for single / return trip. This is in addition to the entrance fee for the Wall itself.... More

One of the most amazing things I've ever experienced. Took public bus and then a taxi, but got by because we had a Chinese friend with us - I imagine it might be too daunting otherwise. Took the little cable car up walked up to the other cable car then back down to where we started, in order to zoom... More

Have to go at least once. Forgot to mention when you get too top steps are very steep on my bump literally coming down... More

I went to Badaling many years ago – that was the first portion of the Great Wall to open to the public. So, this time, we chose Mutianyu – the wall of Mutianyu itself was actually older than that of Badaling but as a tourist attraction, it is “newer”. Both were gorgeous constructions built along miles of rugged landscape, witness... More

There are several places to visit the Great Wall. The large group tours always go to the Badaling section of the wall. It is very much overcrowded since there is a freeway out there and usually 50 or more buses in the parking lot. Mutianyu section is further out however far less crowded and more beautiful. Walk out 100 yards... More
