The Great Wall at Mutianyu is where many of the pictures of the wall snaking up the distant mountains were taken. Advertised as being less crowded than other locations doesn't mean much - it's crowded. And they are building up the base area with more and more store fronts for vendors to pedal their wares. Tourists park at this base... More

The Great Wall stretches over 10,000 Kms. Mind boggling stats. Great views and the wall is in very good condition, take the cable car ride to the top which is an experience in itself,

Worth it to go! Beautiful views and an unforgettable experience. I would recommend people to go early in the morning. And do not book expensive tours from your country as you can go there by local transport or easily find cheaper offers once you are there.

They are building this location to be one of their top tourist destinations. New buildings and shops, new roads and walkways. You have to like to walk. It was expected so it didn't bother either of us (55 & 60). But after an hour of going in both directions, we had to climb up the last rows of steps. I... More

Wow what a spectacular sight. Truly breathtaking seeing the wall following the contour of the mountains. I took the lift up and the toboggan down. That was good fun on the toboggan. It was about an hour drive from Beijing depending on the traffic. A must when visiting Beijing

If you visit China, you have to visit the Great Wall. The part we visited had been restored and was in good condition. You could decide how much to climb, and it was noticeable that the numbers of fellow climbers reduced markedly after the first few stretches, to the point that the highest stretches were almost empty of other visitors.... We arrived early in the morning, and there was hardly anyone else there. The vendors were just starting to open up, and it was peaceful and calm. Some of my group chose to walk up while some of us picked the cable car. I was glad to have chosen the cable car, as it gave me more time on the... More

They are still laying the paving stone to go to the lifts that is how new this Wall access area is. They have 2 sections one where you can lift up and lift down and the other you can lift up and slide on a toboggan down. Wish I would have done the toboggan ride down. You have to make... More

Having been living in China for two years, finally got to see The Wall and it was amazing. We left early from Beijing and got there at 8 am when there was hardly anyone there. I can thoroughly recommend this location - going up on the chairlift and coming down on the luge was great fun and the chairlift gave... More

This is a great location of the wall to visit!!. We lucked out with clear weather so the views were spectacular. We made good time from Beijing - about 1 1/2 hours. We rook the cable car ride up and hiked on the wall for about 2 hours. Our guide told us to go the right, which we did and... More
