This Beijing attraction deserves 5* because love it or hate it the Silk Market can really define a trip to Beijing. To be honest give the Pearl Market a miss unless you have plenty of time to kill in BJ because they both sell the same tat for the most part and the Silk market is much bigger. There is... More

This market is a unique experience. Did you know a brand X silk tie costs $2? The sellers are looking for suckers, so they start with a hugely inflated price. Haggle and you will get the fair market price. Just know what you want to pay and stick with it. This place is fun. There are plenty of decent fakes... More

First off, I am not a novice when it comes to markets or bargaining. However I found this market to be over the top in a very bad way. I have been to agressive markets where they really want you to buy, but the vibe is still positive and fun. The silk market was mean spirited. The prices started so... More

If you have low self esteem then you should come here! "Your eyes are so beautiful" "Pretty lady come here..." "...you dress so well!" "Your hair is beautiful..." it's all fake but hey, in amongst the rest of the sales rhetoric that is launched at you it's not bad. Let's face it, you are going to a market where they... More

Most common SCAMS in Silk Market are: * Of course EVERYTHING is a Cheap copy of everything (Lenses, Usb Drive, Purses, jeans, Shoes... everything!!!) * Beware of the "change", in the stand there is a nice copy of the product (almost as original), then you ask for it, the begin bargain, you set the price and they get a new... Do your research before coming to the Silk Market. Do not feel embarrassed to quote a very low price as the sellers will always start with a sky high price. If your price is too low and below their cost price, they will not sell it to you. If they accept your price, it means they are still earning a... More

Its the hunt , its the chase its the feeling you get when you bargin and buy something which was offered originally for RMB220 and you pay RMB35, one might think that to do this we are taking away any profit they might make , not so ! because these vendors are very astute and they will not sell at... The vendors are so rude. Poor quality goods. Whoever taught these vendors to speak English must teach them with the right voice and intonation. The screaming vendors scared the civilization out of us. We never felt so verbally abused. Will never go back. More

Silk Market is a 5 storey shopping mall. You Go can go there by taxi or taking the subway (red line) andcome off at Yong’anli station, you can walk directly from the station to the mall via an underground passageway. You can find all kind of fakes, clothing, souvenirs, etc. Just be prepared to bartend and you will get ridiculously... More
