This is a very interesting little street with all sorts of strange food items for sale. The skewered live scorpions are the highlight – the vendors bang the counter so they wiggle their legs. My husband really wanted to try scorpion. Eww! As others have mentioned, there is also snake, seahorse, larvae and all sorts of other things fit for... More

This is really an outdoor exotic food market. Full of things that we would never try elsewhere. Well worth the experience. From scorpions to tarrantula's centipede's to lizards you will be shocked. More

Probably more for the tourists than the locals. It is expensive compared to other places. But there probably not many places where you can eat scorpions, spiders and giant centipedes!! More

We went to the center of Beijing were we visited the so called "Food Street". I would have never believed that one day in my life I would've eaten a scorpion. In the first shop of the Food Street we looked to those creatures like something we had never seen before and of course the cliche question everybody asks "Can... More

My very first business trip to China in 2001 included my first dinner in China here on the street at the night market. Since then, if I have business in Beijing and stay at the Novotel or somewhere close, dinner is always at the night market. There is a guy from Uzbekistan that sells delicious grilled lamb skewers with chili... More

We went to the night market December 26, but were a little disappointed. It's now just a snack street. But if looking for a second snack street it's worth visiting. Basically this is just up the end of Wangfujing pedestrian street, so about two blocks distance up from the real snack street. You can't miss it. It's across the street... More

We visited the night market in Beijing in July on our holiday in China. We were fortunately staying quite close to the night market in the Novotel Peace Hotel so we walked down to see what was on offer. We knew what to expect - Seahorse, Centepede, Scorpions etc to eat but actually seeing them on display was still a... More

It was worth the visit to see all the interesting delicacies available to munch on, but this is considered just as weird to the chinese (for most of the exotic stuff they sell) as it is to the rest of us! It is more of a tourist trap and money maker than anything to do with culture, but it is... More

No trip to Beijing would seem complete without a stroll in the Food Night Market. As you stroll up and down the street looking at the vendors offerings your eyes will widen as you see still alive scorpions on a stick waiting to be fried and eaten along with sea horses, star fish, larve, snakes, and a dozen other "specialties"... Dong Hua Men Night Market is very crowded, but it's a great cultural experience. This was a quick stop over for me because I was in a rush to get somewhere else that day. I was particularly interested in finding a grasshopper to eat, but because of the lack of time, I couldn't find one. I did find plenty of... More
