Very nice place to hang around after dinner. Lots of restaurants around this area and of cause pubs and bars along the lake. Just simply pick any one of the pub, there's live band singing very nice chinese song all night long ! (All good singer). But please take note on the last trip of subway especially during winter time.... More

Walk around the lake with the hundreds of locals. See people in paddle boats fishing and swimming. Loved taking in the local culture and worth a visit.

I have heard that this is just a tourist place but it really is much more than that. The city was built around these lakes (Hou Hai and Bei Hai) in the 13th century because of their charm, and that charm is still here today. I have visited in every season and almost every month, and have never been disappointed.... More

A bar street along to Shichahai in central Beijing behind the Forbidden City. Nice place to visit day and night all year round. Best time would be summer night time, bars and live bands in a Chinese style.

We strolled around here at night and it was a blast! All the buildings are lit up and the street vendors are out. Great beef on a stick!

The area was empty in the day time, so it was a semi-pleasant walk. As long as you can avoid stepping on dog poops and fresh spits (well the later is impossible to avoid), it's interesting to see the area devoid of the usual tour group with bad behavior. It was a different place at night, bars after bars with... More

Walking from the street along the shore of this artificial late, you are assaulted by live music from almost every bar you pass via speakers placed on the street. Almost every bar has some kind of live entertainment, each one is full of interesting people, each one sells beer, what more could you want? Oh yes, you could want a... More

We headed to this area after visiting the Drum Tower and it was well worth it. A 10 minute walk from the tower, the lake area offers a wide array of choices for places to eat and shop. And yes, we even found a Starbucks to top off the night with a warm coffee before heading back on the subway.... More

This is a very great place to go in the evening. All around the lake there are restaurant and bar which is all lit up and the bands are just going about with their music. It will be very loud and people outside asking you to go in and check it out. If you have kids this will not be... More
