Very late review, visited years ago but still rmb vividly of the place. (: I can't really blame for it to have slippery floors due to the thousands of visit daily from visitors, whats more when i went it was winter time. However you could still be comfortable and wear something you like since i've seen people visiting it in... More

The Great Wall of China for me, was always something I thought would remain in the history textbooks. I had such a great time here and seeing the history from the textbooks come to life. We did a tour with Viator which took us around a lot of different areas of Beijing, but when we finally arrived to the Great... More

This section of The Great Wall of China is southwest of Changping. Reason for its popularity would be it offers 2 options to climb the wall. You can chose to climb the hard or harder section of the wall. We chose the hard, which for me at 50+ was manageable, I made it to the 3rd watchtower. My husband and... More

We had 2 options to climb the wall: 1. Steep and narrow 2. Easier route. We took the easier route which was still difficult since the steps are uneven and if you are not near a handrail can be hard to keep your balance. I luckily had brought a walking stick which was very helpful. The climb was very windy... More

You have several options of what section to climb on the wall. From Beijing you can take the train or taxi to the area you prefer. Read up on the various areas and choose the one right for you. This Badaling Hills area has the most people but it is one of the best preserved. If taking a taxi ask... More

What a great trip! Arrangements all made through Gate 1 Travel left nothing for us but enjoyment. A 10 day trip including Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai with all the sights and most of the meals. Very professional guides giving all the information required or requested. Meals at local restaurants for an authentic taste of China. Have traveled worldwide and have... More

You know it was a wall built thousands of years ago by slaves who pulled the blocks of rocks one by one. But knowing is a different feeling from actually being there, climbing the huge stairs. A must visit if you're in Beijing, it cannot be missed.

We visited and walked the Great Wall near Changping, http://goo.gl/maps/1ujPM (Google Map URL) on new years day, 2013. Yep, it was cold, but the walk, make that climb up the wall quickly warmed us up. An incredible experience. At this portion of the wall, you have 2 options. The portion of the wall to the West (left side from the... More
