The cost is so inexpensive it's a joke. The trains are clean but very crowded. You can get anywhere in the city on the Tube. The advantage is Taxis get caught in traffic which is worse than a bad day in Manhattan.

This is by far the best way to travel in China. On time, not crowded, convenient and you can easily get tickets. If you can get where you want to go with it, use it. I travel between Beijing and Shanghai using it all the time.

Fast & clean, the train left on-time and arrived ahead of schedule. Leave larger luggage pieces at the main bays when you get on the train, carry-on type pieces can be stored overhead. Middle seats are a little wider. One outlet is available per side of row of seats, the outlet accepts standard US 2-prong (non-polarized) plugs.

The best way to travel between Beijing and Tianjin - 25 minutes from start to stop. Organized taxi ranks at both ends, as well as buses. Speeds reach approximately 298kpm ... and the movement is as smooth as silk. Easy to do everything yourself including buying the tickets. You will need to show your passport for this - new security...
