Peter and an arranged driver picked me up at the Hotel in the early morning. By 8:30 we had left Beijing and arrived at some local villages and markets. Because of some back problems, Peter had arranged a less dangerous climb and that was very nice of him. The day was perfect and scenic vistas were amazing. Once in a... more

Just got back from a trip to Beijing and my brother and I hired Peter Zhao, [--] to take us to the Jiankou section. I would definitely recommend Peter and the trip. Our driver was great too... whew, we just missed the donkey. I also recommend having dinner at the local house afterwards, nice touch. Prices are reasonable, views are... more

Truly a once in a lifetime experiance hiking and climbing the Great Wall in the Jiankou area. One of the busiest days in my visit to Beijing started a 7 in the morning when my Fabulous guide Peter [--] arrived at my hotel and off we went in the rented car. We stopped along the way for a roadside breakfast... more

We went in early August, but it's not so hot in this village called Xizhazi (西柵子村). Wear a pair of long pants (because of the shrubs) and good pair of walking/hiking shoes (because of loose stones every where) when hiking up to the Great Wall. Do not climb the Great Wall when it rains! There're several entrances to the hike,... more

I visited various sections of the Great Wall in July of 2009. Peter Zhau ( ampeter518@yahoo.com ) has an excellent knowledge of the area and can take you to both restored and unrestored sections of the Great Wall. Peter's service is great as he arranges private transportation which gives you much greater flexibility and efficiency and you will see the... more

We visited this section of the wall and hiked to Mutianyu. Our trip was led by a guide from Cycle China. Booking with Cycle China was easy, and we had a private tour for 6 people. We started at a farmhouse after driving up a lovely mountain road. The drive was nice and the guide said the region is popular... more

After reading all the good reviews about this place I along with my husband and teenage daughter decided to give it a go . What I was not expecting was the rock climb- without a rope , Yes this section of the wall is wild and there are spectacular views but when our guide said we would be climbing "up... more

Having been to the Jinshanling-Simatai section of the Great Wall, my husband and I were after a different GW experience. We had heard that Jiankou was both authentic, tough, and scenic, so off we went. Travelling from Beijing we caught a bus 916 from Dongzhimen to Huairou which cost around 11 yuan each and took around 2-3 hours. We had... more

Returning from a business trip to Shenyang, north eastern China, I had 2 days to spend in Beijing. Not being familiar with the city, and wanting to see a lot quickly, I emailed a guide, located on tripadvisor, Peter Zhao [--]. On day one he took me around the popular sights in the city, excellent to see the sights quickly.... more

Like the last reviewer here, on my trip to Beijing a week ago in January, I wanted to go see the real great wall and not a restored section with tourist. I hired a tour guide for the day, Peter (iampeter518@yahoo.com) and he hired a driver to bring us to the start of the hike. We started at the base... more
