It takes a bit of research and you'll want to build in some flexibility in your timing but the rewards are significant. We did it and only speak very limited Chinese so you can too. Just takes a sense of adventure. Forget the traditional cruises that usually start in Chongqing or Yichang take 3-5 days become boring, are expensive, limit... More

An option to do Mini Three Gorges............so pleased we did. It is so, so worth it...........120 yuan We were on a Yangtze Cruise and this was truly a highlight. The smaller boat and guide were excellent, pointing out things of interest and historical facts. A few strategically placed props on the way and the hanging coffins were interesting. It's only... Visitied the gorges while on Yangtse Gold 7 cruise. They are spectacular and the small boat tour into the lesser three gorges was impressive, providing a closer view and appreciation of the vastness of the water resource that has been created through the damming. The optional tour on our cruise was the Mini Three Gorges whixh was similar, and just... More

We took a trip on the Yangtze River with Sinorama Holidays leaving from Chongqing and arriving at Wuhan. The middle part of the 5 day cruise was through the three gorges area and the scenery was spectacular - travelling down fairly narrow passages with sheer high cliffs on either side of the boat. Vegetation on the mountains was lush and... More

We had a 4 days cruise. It was very impressive to pass the three gorges, even after they have been kind of submerged after the dam was built. The gorges are till beautiful. Worthwhile to see, in particular itch a visit to the dam

Spent 4 days on The Yangtze with Gate1 Tours. The Three Gorges are beautiful. Everyone on the cruise ship was outside when passing the gorges...lots of photos.....the scenery is great....our stops were even better.

I got to travel through these three gorges on the Century Sun cruise ship booked through a Gate1 tour. My pictures from the area are gorgeous, even despite the overcast skies and light rain. The scenery is what sold me on going on a river cruise. If you are going to China and have some time to spare, I would... More

Worth the effort with fantastic views and some good photos, after transferring to a smaller boat from the ship we travelled further deep into the gorges. This was one of our highlights when spending 3 1/2 weeks in China. If you have the time "do it" you won't regret it. See other reviews on the ships that ply the Yangtze... More

I hasten to add that this review is not about the river, scenery or dam, but rather the very poor experience I had on the President 1 cruise that I had booked from Chongqing to Yichang. I chose a room on the 4th deck. However, an hour after I arrived, the next 3 rooms were taken up with a family... More

Took the 4-night Yangtze River 3-Gorges cruise in December 2013 from Yichang to ChongQing. It was arranged by a travel agent in ChangSha. A nice experience in deed. It includes visit to 3-Gorges Dam, small 3-Gorges and the Ghost Town. The 3-Gorges Dam is worth to have a look if you have not been there. the Small 3-Gorges boat trip... More
