We boarded the Century Diamond in Chongqing. From the dock the ship was impressive. Our rooms were comfortable. The entertainment was typical Chinese. Our "port" stops were interesting and educational. We enjoyed the beauty of the landscape although seeing laundry hanging from the rooms was quite a site! The dinners were horrendous! Worst part there was nothing else to eat... more

We took a three day cruise downstream on the Yangtze river from Chongqing in July 2009. My wife and I were travelling with our 11 year old son. Besides some problems during the land tour (sales pitches in tourist traps) the uninspiring food, clammy bed linens and unnessary sales pitches... more

Cruising China's Yangtze River might have been a spectacular experience before the Three Gorges Dam project, but overall it's a relatively humdrum experience now. We sailed the President I booked through ChinaSpree, an excellent tour provider, and the boat and its crew provideded excellent service and wonderful meals in comfortable, immaculately clean surroundings (although the boat did show its age... more
