There is nothing like a walk in the hills and these, being so close to Nairobi, are just unmissable. Looking down into the plain is awesome and it is, of course, the burial site of Dennis Fitch Hatton of Out of Africa, played by Robert Redford. The only downside is that you must have a guide/guard as the "bandits" can... More

As with all the reviews, it is a great place to hike, no scree, and much on grass. Yes at the entrance , they say you need armed escort ($) from one of their "rangers".... if you are going to 4th Hill. ...just say NO. Whilst in the past some young Massai may have conducted a robbery or 2 on... More

Ngong Hills is a very historical site in Kenya, situated about 2 hours on road from Nairobi city. This place was put on the map by Karen Blixen’s bestseller book “Out of Africa”, which later became a renowned movie. Having watched the movie and read the book, I was really looking forward to hiking these famous hills. This is not... More

We did a lot of research on hiking the Ngong Hills before we went and what we read online appeared to be very untrue, after we hiked the Hills for ourselves. If you are not a citizen or resident of Kenya this can be a very expensive ordeal. When we arrived in Ngong, we located the Kenya Wildlife Service, expecting... More

Takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes drive to Ngong hills from Nairobi CBD.Take a guided hike or a group hike. One can use some local Maasai to guide you through the hills though this is done at ones risk.Local tour companies can give detailed info.A place to go and have nice picnics, do hill climbing, team building activities, take breath taking... Recently took a trip to Ngong Hills. First you need to go to Kenya Forestry Services and pay for 2 guides which costs 3000ksh. And then you should drive to the gate. Do not recommend you to start walking cause you will not have any energy left for the real thing! At the gate you need to pay entrance fee... More

I love coming here, the views are spectacular, and it is always a good workout as there are lots of hills you have to walk up and down. On a sunday there are often a lot of Christian groups praying up here, so I tend to avoid walking my dog then, but for the rest of the week it is... More

I first visited this place in the year 2007 as i was in a member of the presidents award (PA). we went to ngong hills for a camp of the gold level. i must say it was a nice experience away from home. we spent 7 days with my school mates camping and doing different activities .

Its a nice place, especially when you get a view of the Rift Valley. The scenary changes a lot if you go there in dry season or just after rains. Its beautiful anyhow but not much to do except hiking.
