This is the travel hub, the trouble hub, the rub-a-dub hub. Here you find everywhere you need to go (in a hiphop matatu decorated with pics of Tupac). This is where you trust no man and hate no man. Where you come with an open mind and leave with a pocket full (unless you a fool). Some call it crowded.... More

Despite messages here River Road is save during the day. It is a busy area in an African City. There might be pickpockets like in every crowded place in the world. Otherwise there are no hassels!

Very busy road full of shops, restaurants, food stalls and the ever present matatus,. Noisy, smelly, cahotic and the only part of Nairobi that did not feel safe during my stay. It's interesting to get a feeling of Nairobi city life but be careful, don't linger and avoid taking photos and looking like a tourist.

River Road is a bit of a seedy place, not changed that much since i lived there so many years ago, definately not a place to wander around on your own and no way at night.

It seems most travellers don't stay in Nairobi city centre presumably due to safety concerns, opting instead for the outer suburbs. But there are an abundance of cheap hotels (1000 - 2000 KSHS for a room with a double bed and ensuit) around River Road and I felt completely safe there. I stayed at Hotel Arizona's, which is along River... More

I was attacked in mis afternoon by 3 goons. in the middle of a crowd that did nothing to help. After the attack I asked a guy that was looking like an insider to bring back my papers and to let them go with the money. 15 minutes later I got back my ID and other papers, and of course... More

This is the down town of Nairobi and needs die hard to visit. If you are a visitor in Nairobi walk with caution or take a friend with you. Its very crowded as well.

River Road is in downtown of Nairobi and is always crowded owing to the fact that the bus terminus and most public vehicles terminus are nearby. It also caters for most small and medium business. You will not also miss out on a few idlers and hence, pick pockets, so watch your purse or wallet. However, if you want the... More
