Went there with my family on an afternoon walk and for sure they really enjoyed themselves until it started drizzling. This ended the lovely evening at Karura .....

Karura Forest has a few entrances and each part has its own merits. The whole forest is fenced and patrolled by rangers, so its safe for walkers, joggers, cyclists etc. Its lovely, to see people enjoying life, to the full. There is a small charge for entrance.

Karura is a gift to those who can get themselves there. My only complaint is that the trail signs are often a little confusing to read with the map for those who do not know their way around. Trace your steps and bring your mobile phone with you. Bring water and snacks too, I didn't see any places to get... More

Took the kids for a walk and they loved it. I, too, enjoyed it. The waterfalls are so beautiful, there are caves to see and the butterfly pond too. If you use a pedometer and want to reach your 10,000 steps a day, you will more than achieve that with a walk in the forest on the 5km route. Great... More

Unbelievable peace and beuty just a step away from the grouded streets of Nairobi. You can spend many hours without seeing anybody, just birds and butteflies.

Three of us visited this forest yesterday in temps of 27-34C. Excellent walk of about 5.5km by being dropped at Gate C on the Kiambu Rd (entrance KSh 600 for foreigners) - don't forget the excellent map for KSh 500 at the gate - to walk through well marked paths via the caves and the waterfall Gate A on Limuru... I enjoyed the 10 km walk, with the view of the Water falls in the forest. I enjoyed looking at the caves. The walk was nice since the forest is safe. It was nice looking at the beautiful trees.

Here's another little hidden gem in Nairobi! What's really amazing about this place is the fact that you have a slice of nature at its best without having to go out of town. Karura Forest is a protected forest with a history only the trees can tell, it was saved by activist, former politician and Nobel Laureate Prof. Wangari Maathai.... More

Having done some travel in Africa this park was nothing special. But for the people of Nairobi it nice to get out of the car and have a safe walk or a 10km ride on a rusty old bike...

Need a day away from Nairobi, this is it. Close in and cheap. Rent some bikes and let the kids ride all over the forest. Very safe. Don't miss the water falls and the caves, unbelievable. I also loved the monkeys.
