This is a great place just outside the city where you can feel away from the city life. It's great for a walk, run or cycle. I'm told there is cycle hire there but I didn't see it, but there are many entrances. It was 600 KES to go in the park. We spent a good few hours walking around... More

Joined an organized group walk ranging from families to individuals which was wonderful. The group's guides (not from the forest service maybe next time we shall opt for them) could have been more knowledgeable however we enjoyed the easy walk and let those faster than us hurry ahead.Tree cover was great and sun not too hot (we started out at 10am... Beautiful forest with varied ways to get around to cave, waterfall, forest glades and other attractions. Bikes for rent at the clubhouse, great for dogs (with some off-leash areas), horse-riding available at nearby stables. 5km round trip to cave and waterfall.

If you’d like a wonderfully beautiful forest walk, take a break in Karura Forest. Close to the US Embassy, Canadian High Commission and UN, this reserve is a great place for a walk and picnic with the family, or an energetic run to burn off the stress of driving in Nairobi. The Forest has been fenced in, so it is... More

We went here with our two young children. We walked to the waterfalls which is about 4.5 km. It was very beautiful and an easy walk. However half of the trail is a road so be careful- people drive really fast on the road. There is also a family trail I think we will try next time just so the... More

Went for a walk at Karura after quite a while without visiting Karura. It's very well maintained, orderly process of going in, and the signage's help you know where you are/what direction you need to take. Indeed a relieving breath of fresh air for those of us who live around the hectic city of Nairobi

My friends and I take our kids picnicking at Karura once a month on Sundays. The picnic area is large and we carry their bikes and generally have a great time. Haven't experienced the trail yet because we all have toddlers. Lovely place to spend an afternoon with young children without worrying too much about them. Bring all the food... More
