If you love to lay on green grass after a difficult morning and thank God for life. This is the place to be especially in the afternoons when the sun is out. This is where the US embassy used to sit since independence and the first ever bomb blast in Kenya brought it down in 1998. All the people who... More

This is constant reminder of what people have suffered because of terrorism. Every American visitor is encouraged to pay tribute to the people who perished. A beautiful place to spend the afternoon amidst the noisy Nairobi.

On my 4th trip to Kenya last month, I finally had time to visit the US Embassy memorial. Inside the compound, there is indeed a small, grassy park -- quite full of Kenyans doing various activities on the afternoon I visited. Other than the outdoor plaque with the victims' names, the memorial itself is in a small building on the... More

Nice escape if you are already in the city center, but not worth driving INTO the city center to see.

My secret getaway. It used to be quiet, and with not as many people. I could sit and read a good book there, but now, its overly crowded, with seats and groups of people everywhere. The Garden should have wireless internet, or a room, or section of the garden should be reserved for those with laptops. Charges 100 shillings or... More

Having lost people I've known here during the bomb blast, I would say it is a bit of a sad experience to be here, but a memorable experience all the same.

Its a sad place due to what it signifies. The memorial itself is touching. However the part of Nairobi in which it sits is terrible. If you are going to visit watch yourself and your wallet!

The monument was great. After hearing about Kenyan corruption from a lot of locals we were shocked that we were shook down here of all places. The normal fee is about 100KES but we were forced out of 350KES each because we were late arriving. I guess I should just be thankful we were allowed in but the bribe left... More
