This picturesque restaurant in the nice and calm Karen area and conveniently located close to the Karen Blixen museum and other attractions. The food is great although the service can be a bit slow, especially if there are some bigger groups that have just arrived. But the wait is typically worth it, as the food is excellent !

If you saw the movie, read the book...then you need to see the real place. The exteriors were shot here but the interiors were shot elsewhere. Robert Redford and Meryl Streep were not there...oh well...but we had a very informative guide...he was almost too informative. Skip the coffee grinding machine..it's a replica and the walk is not worth it. The... More

Liked the idea that the factory enables single mothers to earn a living. Karen Blixen started the factory to help single mothers who were shunned. They have about 300 women there now and the work that they do is beautiful!

The visit was great and to learn the additional history of Karen Blixen's love and caring for her employees even better. I said employees because when you visit you will learn from your guide that in Karen Blixen's time workers were considered slaves to the coffee plantation. She even had 700 acres set aside of the plantation for her employees... More

I was there recently after a visit to Sheldrick's to see the baby elephants and we had a delightful time at both. The Salmon with lemon butter sauce was very nice and well cooked. It has come far since my last visit about 6 years ago and I'll make it a regular stop with in Karen.

A lovely place to have a delicious and abundant buffet lunch, on the beautifully manicured grounds. The ambiance was delightful, and we enjoyed it tremendously.

Picture a group of twenty of us dining a la garden party in the grounds of a wonderful colonial plantation. The architecture was fabulous, the garden lush and the smell of the boma grill pervaded to tease the appetite. Despite the huge Sunday crowds, the service was speedy and we soon found ourselves eating a meal of exceptional quality, in... More

Well-maintained house and grounds and knowledgeable staff make this a mildly interesting way to spend a couple of hours. Probably more interesting to someone who already knows about her legacy than someone who doesn't.
