We went to the Village Market on Friday, the day that the traveling Maasai Market was there. Our intent, therefore, was not to shop in the stores of the mall itself, but to find the Maasai Market. That week, it was held outside the mall (by the big water slide that looked like great fun!) It was very hard to... More

I regularly (over 30 times) went to Kenya on business in ' 10 ' 11 and '12, sometimes for a few weeks at a time. As I was there for work I didn't really get out into the country much and after a while Nairobi can become quite boring, like any other city. I really enjoyed calling my taxi buddy... More

Village Market has a reputation of being the big bang and scam for the UN expatriates working and living in the vicinity of that shopping center. The prices in the food outlets and shops do not reflect the real purchasing power of the Kenyan people. It is for foreigners only. The Kenyan works in that glamorous shopping mall are unfriendly... Perfect, authentic Kenyan market. Enjoyed shopping for traditional wares in local setting. Purchases soccer jerseys, wooden bowls and spoons, beaded jewelry, Nativity scenes, etc. My family much preferred this market to touristy souvenir shops.

the food court is quite different from most malls, due to the outside sort of seating, selling of alcohol and most importantly the prices(its quite pricy for a mall). after a few improvements and expansion of the food court area, on the weekends as far as i know, there is a live band and its quite good. some of the vendors are... Loved this place. Good variety of stores. Got some art, groceries, and clothes for my family. Excellent food court. A bit upscale. Within walking distance from the UN.

Liked the fact that this "mall" is quite unlike any I have encountered in North America. Nice mix of indoor and outdoor areas. Many options for eating and a remarkably good variety of shops, many of which specialize in genuine Kenyan arts and crafts. And it has a Nakomat - excellent for staples and sundries. Needed bubble wrap and packing... More

First up, if you have problems with mobility, or are with children in prams, forget Village Market. The spaces to walk are narrow, and the place is FULL of stairs - no lift, stairs everywhere. Disney, Ikea et al have spent time and money working on flow - to ensure that customers travel in a logical way through their attractions.... More

A range of speciality shops, cafes, restaurants, bowling ally, waterpark and other entertainment. One of the best things about this place is the open air rambling village feel. One point to note it has a very good sports shop, probably the best of the shopping malls in Nairobi plus a very good electrical/electronics accessories shop where you can haggle the... More
