We went on an early morning ride on the lake and it was a nearly perfect experience. The mist was still on the lake and created an other worldly feeling as we sighted numerous birds. The most memorable was the Fisher Eagle. We saw this magnificent bird fishing.

Definitely visit at dusk if at all possible as the light is incredibly stunning as your photos will prove. Plenty of active hippos on the lake to cruise by but we thoroughly enjoyed all the bird life on the lake. Numerous different types of species - and we don't consider ourselves birdwatchers by any means. The dead trees jutting out... More

We hired a boat at Hippo Boat Safaris and went for a ride to various parts of the lake ending up at Crescent Island Game Park. I did not realize just how large this lake is, nor how much game, fish and bird-life it supports. I have most certainly discovered a new weekend get-away!

Lake Naivasha is a great place to explore by foot and by boat. The boats and guides are for hire and will take you around the lake tracking down hippos and zebras. No flamingoes when we were there, and the water table was extremely high due to recent rains. The hippos are very territorial. Our boat was charged by an... More

Our Safari outfitter (Bundunz) arranged a birding boat tour around Lake Naivasha. It was a 2 to 3 hour ride in a little outboard motor boat. The photo opportunities and birding was fabulous. We saw 5 species of Kingfisher, Ospreys, Fish Eagles, White and Pink Pelicans, 16 species of Herons/Egrets Etc, many cormorants and others!

Every place in Kenya seems to have something unique available. For Lake Navaisha it's the ability to take a short boat ride to a predator free area where you can walk with the animals. Lots of zebras, wildebeest, birds, and giraffes. It was very pleasant walking with the giraffes after being cooped up in the van on Safari for a... More

Lake Naivasha is a convenient location for a short beak coming from Nairobi (approx 60km / 90 min drive). The main attraction are its boat rides (approx 4000 KES for an hour) where you can see hippos bathing and a myriad of different birds. Ge the boat to take you to crescent island where you will see an incredible number... More

Been to Lake Naivasha twice now and will go back again. Just over an hours drive from Nairobi. The view while driving is pretty awesome. Be sure to stop at viewpoint and take in the Rift Valley and stop at one of the lodges and take a boat trip on the Lake. Seen lots of hippos, zebra, antelope, giraffes and... More

Great for sunrise and sunset. Dusty roads and little markets. Not as many mosquitos as I thought. Worth a short trip or weekend trip. The drive from Nairobi was painless.

Lake Naivasha is a good getaway for a day from Nairobi. The hippos are the start attraction. I also loved the girazze and wilderbeest in the area. The boat ride is very rejuvenating as you look at the numerous water birds. There is a struggle to keep this place away from human encroachment. Lake Naivasha may not be as popular... More
