Lake Naivasha is a fresh water lake and between 1937 and 1950, the lake was used as a landing place for planes destined to Nairobi. The surrounding land was mainly farmland used by the early settlers. It was christened Lake Nai'posho meaning rough water by the Masaai. The lake is surrounded by papyrus and is beautiful. Beward of hippos lurking... More

We were on our way to Masai Mara from Lake Nakuru and stopped by. We took a boat ride our guide and boatman was very good. He took us very patiently and cautiously around pointing out and naming all the birds. We saw animals too at the edge of the lake. Worth a visit the boat ride is picturesque not... More

Definitelly worth visitng if you are around. Scenery is beautiful, boat ride very interresting. You get very close to hippos and see a lot of different birds; if you are a bird lover Naivasha is a must! The only downside is cost - boat ride costs 30$ per person what I consider too much.

Its a very big lake where you can get a boat ride and enjoy a full description of the lake and the animals you see Hippos are so nice but don't get so close its better to go max by 3PM as you have to go out by 6PM

Lake Naivasha is a lovely lake which is mostly focused on bird life and hippo's, but your boat trip also takes you to the island with Zebra's and other hoofstock. Various species of birds are plentiful; Eagles, cormorants, kingfisher, ducks, waders of all descriptions, pelicans, storks, etc etc. Take the boat tour and it's very reasonable value, I think it... I came here with high expectations but ended up disappointed. I was coming from Samburu and Nakuru and stayed here a day. I did the one hour boat safari in the lake to find hippos, and i certainly saw a few, plus environment is really interesting with lots of dead tress with all types of birds on them. But after... i think these is the perfect place to have a close look at hippos. The only drawback is they are always hiding in the water during the day. Have a boat trip, so you can see also many different kinds of birds. Nice lake view.

Myself and five friends stayed here while visiting lake naivasha and had a mixed time. Mt longonot was great, the hell's gate gorge was also very cool. We had a big issue with our accomdation in fisherman's camp. The beds were dodgy with poor insect nets. The camp owners constantly pestered us trying to sell activities which always cost more...
