Great place to walk around, sit and read, watch the birds (and the cats). Nice and cool in the shade. I only spent a couple of hours here because it was part of a boat ride, but recommend taking the one way boat and stay longer.

The best part of this was the felucca ride which took us to the Island but we had to go just to say we'd been there. The museum was closed and the Island was full of local Egyptians having picnics. Saying that it was quite pleasant walking round in the shade taking in the various specimens still remaining in the... More

Pretty average garden, despite the nice docks. You can easily pass on it without feeling guilty... On top, the sellers were a bit more annoying than at other places.

Compared to other gardens this one is average. Grass was overgrown and this detracted from overall look. On the positive side there were a lot of different trees from all around the globe which were clearly labelled. Disappointing for me as no flowers.

Lord Kitchener had this island as his special retreat to recover from the battles in Khartoum a hundred years ago. He brought plants from all over the world to it. The gardens are very pleasant to walk through. But if you stop for a picture and anyone is near, you are asked for money, even from men working on the... More

A nice break from termples, sand and crowded markets; a beuatiful setting in the middle of the Nile, where you can take a peaceful stroll among the natural marvels gathered here from most corners of the then brilliant British Empire (remember Cecil Rhodes "a British foot from Cape to Cairo"?)

Many of the world's plants and trees are there, great to visit riding the Feluca from Aswan, then talk a walk in the museum and around the island, then take a break on one of the cafes with a cold drink looking over the Nile and the surrounding sand mounds.
