My fellow 'Encounters' wouldn't agree but this was my favorite part of my 9-day tour of Egypt, even though they cut it to 1 night because of the weather. The Nubian captain and crew really know what they are doing it it was peaceful gliding back and forth as we sailed up the Nile. The bonfire was awesome with traditional... More

This is the most stunning part of the Nile and taking a break to be on a a felucca is refreshing and lovely.

Aswan sits on the Nile, but not where it is wide. It is on the "cataract" or narrowing of the Nile; filled with tiny islands or just granite boulders dividing the Nile into many small waterways. A great place for bird watching and sailing so don't miss out on hiring a felucca and getting away from the city.

A sunset sail with Ali on the cushioned deck of his felucca, basking in the sunshine, enjoying the sedating breeze and calm ambience of the Nile was a regal way to spend the afternoon after Abu Simbel. We did manage to part from this bliss for a wonder around the Botanical Gardens which was equally relaxing. Ali himself is a... More

While in aswan the best thing to do is to take a felucca and sail as far as you can go. From aswan to nubian village. Behind the high dam to kalabsha and beyond. Nature is such a beauty, great scenes, and if you are lucky you can spot some crocodiles.

With so many men offering falucca rides in Aswan, it's hard to choose the best option. We found Ali by chance while having a coffee on Elephantine Island and it was the best choice we made in Aswan! Our only regret was that we only had time for a one hour ride rather than two! Ali is friendly, informative and... More

Such a cool way to get around., It is all wind dependent, but the nubians have been doing this forever, and are experts in navigating these waters. Definitely make it part of your stop in Aswan!

Captain Ali and assistant Mizzo gave us an unforgettable 2 nights/3 days felucca tour from Aswan to Kom Ombo beyond our expectation at a reasonable price. Our family of five fit and slept comfortably on the boat. It was so relaxing to lie on the nice cushy deck watching the shore of the Nile passing us by. We stopped several... More

As if cruising on the Nile aboard the SS Karim wasn’t enough, one of the days of our journey we boarded a water-taxi to take us to where we could enjoy an ASWAN FELUCCA RIDE. From our own ship, we took a water-taxi to the local felucca stand, where we boarded such a sweetheart of a vessel, captained by a... More

Quite an experience to be able to go on a felucca to enjoy the serene Nile breeze while watching some fishermen trying their luck on the daily catch using the primitive method of frightening the fishes into the layout net. It is advisable to go after 4pm as the sun wouldn't be that hot to enable better and more enjoyable... More
