We recently took a cruise where we docked in Alexandria Egypt for 2 days. We wanted to visit Cairo and the Pyramides of Giza, but also wanted to stay at a first class hotel overnight (next to the Pyramides) since it was about a 3 hour drive from the ship and too much to do all in one day. We... more

we visited the Pyramids at Giza early november. we didn't want to be tied down with a tour company so we organised our own tour. This presented a lot of problems. firstly we arranged a taxi from our hotel (Intercontinental Citystars) to the pyramids, we thought we had a good deal at 60LE all in. but the taxi driver diverted... more

Travelled to Egypt September 2009 and visited Pyramids. Whilst they are stunning and magnificent structures and have to be seen to believed the vultures around them are not! Because we are friendly and not use to the bribery etc in our country we got sucked in!! We had hired a car with a guide but this still didn't protect us!... more

It is the prettiest, most unbelievable site to see. It's even more remarkable when you are standing next to the Pyramids and see just how massive they truly are. I had been waiting to see these since I was in elementary school and they didn't disappoint. If you like the camel rides, go for it; but I was a solo... more

We had a fantastic guide when we visited the pyramids at Giza. Doaa Khalifa Muhammad took us on a tour of the pyramids last summer (2008). Doaa's English is very good and she adapted the tour to our interests. She even took us to a carpet factory, Egyptian cotton store and a great restaurant for lunch. Doaa was very helpful... more

My wife and I were staying at the Oberoi The Mena house, complete with balcony view of the pyramids. The next day we did the proper tour of the pyramids but unfortunately found it to be over-rated. 1) Don't get too close to pyramids, like my wife and I did, or you get whistled at by the annoying (and crooked)... more

I thought this would be some hokey pony ride where you get on, grab a quick photo and then back off. But it's definitely not! You get on the camels probably a mile from the pyramids and the experience of riding the camel up to the pyramid not only adds to the Egyptian feel, it's tons of fun! The camels... more

The Pyramids are really a sight to behold. The approach starts with the ticket windows at the parking lot, where you purchase the tickets to the monument and then go through a security check. The entry to the pyramid is a small 'hole in the wall' and the hole gets getting smaller! It is quite an exercise to ascend through... more

We have the privilege to go back to Egypt for the second time via cruise ship. From Alexandria, we rented a taxi to take us to Giza only to visit the Pyramids and the Sphinx again. Riding camel is a must. Enjoy! more
