We visited the 3 Pyramids and Sphinx in Giza. We had read that the souvenir hawkers and camel drivers were really intrusive, but found them to be much more restrained than at the sites along the Nile. Our one bad experience was going down into the Pyramid of Khafre. We knew it would be hot and claustaphobic. However, we were... more

a must visit at some time. the approach to the giza is a bit of a let down. once in front of them, they leave you speechless, there is nothing beautiful - just the enormity & perfection for its time. a true genius. the view from a distance is better. more

I don't think I could ever get tired of seeing the Pyramids of Giza. What a dream come true. We stayed in a hotel across the street and never got tired of looking at them from our room and seeing them up close is even better. I don't recommend going inside though. I understand that there are better places to... more

The pyramids were amazing to see. You can walk around the area as you please and even climb on the pyramids themselves (to an extent). You have to purchase a ticket to get into the pyramid grounds (60 egyptian pounds) then purchase individual tickets to get into each of the separate three pyramids. I bought a ticket for the 2nd... more

If you do little else while in Egypt, you need to experience the wonders of the three major pyramids at Giza. Their sheer size and scale amaze every visitor. And to think that visitors throughout history have stood in the same place in awe...Alexander, Herotodus, two Caesars, Napoleon, perhaps even Moses, and more. My first visit to the pyramids on... more

My friend and I hired a driver who took us into the alleys of Giza where we bargained for a camel trip around the Giza pyramids. We were new to the "dickering" that visiting Egypt involves but I thought $50 a person was reasonable...at least that was it's value to me. At any rate the camels were great fun...we rode... more

The pyramids are truly wondrous, built by an ancient civilization that the current population has inherited. The visitors experience is marred by shocking rudeness at the ticket counters, very pushy hawkers, cheats, pickpockets, and litter everywhere. Sad. The trip inside the great pyramid is a must, but only for those who are physically fit. more

The Keops/Cheops Pyramid is the only one of the Ancient World's Seven Wonders which are still standing. And its impressive and massive. The ancient and well known skyline with the three triangular giants dotting the horizon has been standing for more than 4.500 years. The first pyramid was build approx. 2551 BCE and is also the largest one, the pyramid... more

We hired a driver and guide from the reception of our hotel (Le Meridien Giza) and can honestly say we had no problems at all. My husband went into the pyramid with the guide (way too claustrophobic for me I'm afraid) and I waited at the foot of the pyramid alone and was not hassled at all. Once I was... more

If you only see 1 thing in your life outside your country, make it the Pyramids and Sphinx at Giza. Awe-inspiring and a multitude of other superlative adjectives don't even come close to describing the indescribable. For the ultimate view in comfort, go to the cafe at the base of the Sphinx behind the chairs for the 'Light and Sound'... more
